FARMINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia’s fall looking season for wild turkey is scheduled to open Saturday in all 55 counties.

The season will final by way of Oct. 16. It will likely be prolonged for a further week in seven counties from Oct. 24 to 30, and for 3 extra weeks in 14 counties from Oct. 24 to Nov. 13, the Division of Pure Sources mentioned in a information launch.

Position Summary

The District Manager works with area distributors to develop and build our brands within the designated territory. This position requires 40% overnight travel and encompasses the states of Kentucky and West Virginia with occasional visits to neighboring territories. Primary Roles

·       Establish and build distribution of our brands by working with distributor network.

·       Support Distributor in proper account merchandising and maintenance.

·       Conduct Distributor ride-withs on a regular basis (weekly) to ensure programs and priorities are on track, and to help identify new opportunities.

·       Target and track new accounts and product placements.

·       Understand how to use Vermont Information Processing (VIP) to track and manage all key sales leads.

·       Understand and explain national data trends with the use of Nielsen/IRI.

·     Provide market insight and recommendations against the target account list and update as needed with new account openings, new opportunities, etc.

·       Competitive tracking: report on competitive activity and watch for market trends.

·     Present to and engage distributor sales personnel at distributor sales meetings, while sharing upcoming priorities, events, and brand initiatives.

·    In market work: 4 days per week with distributor personnel or working off a Lilypad target account list.

·       Execute all aspects of sales plan with wholesaler network. Execute brand plans and programming by working with Geloso Bev Regional Manager and primary contact at the distributor.

·       Responsible for tracking and reporting on-going and consistent market conditions through Lilypad and iDIG VIP.

·       Weekly retail/market recap of execution and performance, providing manager feedback on market using Lilypad and iDIG VIP.

·       Work with teammates on a regular basis in the field. Provide best practice sharing and coordinate in market execution/activation drives against key market/account initiatives, new item launches and/or distribution drives.

·       Responsible for brand execution at the market level. Brand standards to include pricing, shelf placement, cold box placement, and display placement.

·       Responsible for management of own operating and T&E expenses within company guidelines

·       16 days (80% of time) ensuring retail execution, surveying (with key personnel of the wholesaler), evaluating distribution, display and ad feature execution.

·       4 full days (20% of time) managing all administrative requirements due on a monthly basis (distribution tracking, program execution tracking and performance management) as well as all local initiatives.

April 24 (UPI) — West Virginia plans to appeal a recent ruling against the state’s transgender athlete ban to the U.S. Supreme Court, the state attorney general announced Wednesday.

Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, who is running for governor of West Virginia, told reporters Wednesday at the state Capitol in Charleston that he will ask the high court to consider BPJ vs. West Virginia State Board of Education after it declined to take the case last year.

“We will be filing, over the next month, and we’re going to make sure we time our filing to maximize the chance this case is going to be heard, and most importantly, that we will win,” Morrisey said.

“This is a significant case to bring to the Supreme Court, and it will potentially set precedent for the entire country.”

Last week, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals blocked West Virginia’s 2021 ban on transgender students participating on sports teams that match their gender identity, because it violates federal law.

Appeals Judge Toby Heytens said the ban violated Title IX, after the American Civil Liberties Union brought the suit on behalf of eighth-grade trans teen Becky Pepper-Jackson.

“West Virginia’s transgender sports ban’s sole purpose — and its sole effect — is to prevent transgender girls from playing on girls teams,” Heytens wrote in his opinion on April 16. “Offering BPJ a ‘choice’ between not participating in sports and participating only on boys teams is no real choice at all.”

“Somehow, defying logic, the 4th Circuit majority still concluded that this law was targeted at transgender students. They are wrong,” Morrisey responded.

West Virginia became the seventh state in 2021 to pass a law, banning transgender women and girls from competing on female sports teams under the Save Women’s Sports Act. It requires public schools and colleges to base sports participation on biological sex rather than gender identity. There are currently 24 states that have similar laws in place.

Fairness West Virginia said Wednesday that Morrisey’s statements about transgender youth create a hostile environment, allowing for more bullying and discrimination.

“Transgender women are women, period,” said Jack Jarvis, communications director for Fairness in West Virginia. “If you want to support women, you need to support all women.”
