Twice in the last five years, the Homestead pole sitter has won on Sunday.

Five years ago, Denny Hamlin won the pole by draw and then won the race, but a year ago, Tyler Reddick won it on the track and then pulled off a great last lap charge to blow by Ryan Blaney and win the race.

So, sometimes starting up is a big deal. Other times, not so much.

This time, Alex Bowman will attempt to win it after starting first.

How to watch Xfinity, Cup races from Homestead-Miami

Saturday, 4 p.m.: Xfinity Series, Hard Rock Bet 300 (CW).

Sunday, 3 p.m.: Cup Series, Straight Talk Wireless 400 (FS1).

NASCAR’s Xfinity and Cup Series will be on track for most of Saturday afternoon at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Xfinity practice will begin at 10:35 a.m. and be immediately followed by qualifying for the 200-lap race at 4 p.m. Austin Hill is the defending winner of the most recent Xfinity race at Homestead last Oct. 26.

Cup practice will begin at 1:10 p.m. ET and lead into qualifying at 2:10 p.m. to set the field for Sunday’s 400-lap race.

Weather

Saturday: Sunny with a high of 81 degrees and light winds. It’s expected to be 79 degrees with a 0% chance of rain at the start of the Xfinity race.

However, in his first match in Miami since 2019, the 37-year-old showed no signs of being distracted as Hijikata was swiftly swatted aside.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion broke in the second game of the match and never looked back, winning the first set to love in 28 minutes.

It was more of a contest in the second, but Djokovic dominated in the tie-break to move a step closer to a seventh Miami Open title.

“I was playing really well, I mean on a very high level from the beginning, I knew exactly what I wanted to do tactically,” he said.

“Obviously it’s just the first match but the way I felt on the court and the way I played is really encouraging.”
