American Airlines Has Spring Break Flight Deals to Cancun, Miami, and More — Starting at Under 0


As cold winter temperatures continue to cover much of the United States, airlines are discounting prices for spring break getaways. 

American Airlines recently published hundreds of discounted airfares, many under $200, spanning the spring and early summer travel season. Best of all, the destinations include a variety of popular locations including Cancun, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando, Phoenix, and more. 

Travel + Leisure spotted a variety of discounted fares including: 

  • Chicago, IL (ORD) to Phoenix, AZ (PHX) from $177
  • Dallas, TX (DFW) to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) from $277 
  • Los Angeles, CA (LAX) to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (SJD) from $263
  • Philadelphia, PA (PHL) to Las Vegas, NV (LAS) from $145
  • Philadelphia, PA (PHL) to Miami, FL (MIA) from $179 
  • Raleigh, NC (RDU) to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) from $298

The airline also has several discounted flights to Miami, FL from Boston ($127), New York – LGA ($179), Washington – DCA, ($158), and other locations throughout the winter and spring break season.

American Airlines has also discounted tickets to other popular spring break getaways, such as Los Angeles (LAX) to Tucson, AZ (TUS) for only $193, or Minneapolis, MN (MSP) to Destin, FL (VPS) for only $197.

While many of the flights depart from one of American’s hubs, such as Dallas or Philadelphia, travelers can use an interactive tool on the website to select their home airport, and desired budget, to find discounted flights. As an example, when entering “Kansas City, MO”, travelers can see options to fly to Austin, Denver, New York – LGA, or more at a price under $200 round-trip. 

For travelers looking to set sail on the sea during the spring break season, American Airlines Cruises division is offering bonuses of up to 10,000 miles and other perks on select upcoming bookings. Travelers could also use the discounted domestic flights to save on tickets to and from a cruise port. 

The Dallas, TX-based airline has also been marketing international flight promotions including roundtrip tickets to Europe for under $500. The discounted flights come as American has also begun new routes to Europe, including flights to Madrid.

Nearly 350 riders hailing from all corners of Florida revved their motorcycle engines in the parking lot of a Doral church, as they waited for the signal to start their ride. The chilly temperatures that plagued South Florida for a week warmed up to a nice 70 degrees. Perfect for a Sunday ride.

BOTTOM LINE: Miami (FL) will try to break its seven-game losing streak when the Hurricanes take on SMU.

The Hurricanes have gone 7-4 in home games. Miami (FL) scores 71.2 points while outscoring opponents by 3.9 points per game.

The Mustangs have gone 2-6 against ACC opponents. SMU is 5-5 in games decided by at least 10 points.

Miami (FL)’s average of 6.3 made 3-pointers per game this season is only 0.2 fewer made shots on average than the 6.5 per game SMU gives up. SMU averages 5.7 made 3-pointers per game this season, 2.4 fewer made shots on average than the 8.1 per game Miami (FL) gives up.

Nya Robertson averages 2.3 made 3-pointers per game for the Mustangs, scoring 19.3 points while shooting 29.9% from beyond the arc. Jessica Peterson is averaging 9.3 points and 12.7 rebounds over the past 10 games.

LAST 10 GAMES: Hurricanes: 3-7, averaging 65.4 points, 31.2 rebounds, 14.5 assists, 7.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 43.2% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 67.7 points per game.

Mustangs: 5-5, averaging 61.5 points, 37.1 rebounds, 10.6 assists, 6.7 steals and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 35.7% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 69.5 points.

Landlord shot and killed tenant during thermostat dispute in SW Miami-Dade, detectives say – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale


SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) – A dispute between a landlord and tenant ended in tragedy in a Southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood, and authorities said it was all over a thermostat.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the landlord, 37-year-old Adam Anson, went over to the efficiency attached to his home with a semi-automatic pistol, Saturday morning.

Investigators said Anson, who wanted to adjust the thermostat, forced himself inside the efficiency and began punching his tenant.

Detectives said he then dragged the tenant, 57-year-old Carlos Alberto Gonzalez, outside the residence, located along the 9400 block of Southwest 17th Terrace, and shot him several times in the head.

Neighbor Leyani Perez said she heard the gunfure.

“‘Boom, boom, boom.’ Like three big noises that I wasn’t sure there was a gunshot, but I was sure that something wrong was happening,” she said.

Investigators said Anson walked back into the efficiency, adjusted the temperature and called 911.

When deputies arrived to the house, they found the tenant suffering from gunshot wounds.

Paramedics with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed Gonzalez to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where he later succumbed to hs injuries.

As for the landlord, he was taken away in handcuffs.

As the investigation into the shooting gets underway, longtime residents of this neighborhood have been left in shock.

“I was frightened. I was scared. I feel that I was in danger,” said Perez. “This is not common here. This is something that is extremely rare in Westchester.”

Anson is facing serious charges, including second-degree murder.
