Former Arkansas Coach Houston Nutt Miffed at Coaches Like Nebraska Cornhusker coach Matt Rhule, Auburn Tigers coach Hugh Freeze Getting Rewarded for Losing

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Former Arkansas Razorback coach Houston Nutt is having a tough time understanding the teaching pay elevate circus that is happening throughout school soccer.

Wednesday morning, throughout a particular look on on with Little Rock’s 103.7 the Buzz’s “Morning Mayhem” radio present, Nutt voiced his confusion about how a number of coaches are getting massive contracts and large alternatives regardless of a scarcity of latest success.

“Make this make sense to me,” Nutt stated. “I coached within the state of Mississippi. Whenever you lose your final 4 out of 5 and also you lose to the in-state rival, you darn certain wasn’t going to get a elevate. In reality, you are gonna to get blasted a bit bit for not beating Mississippi State, however as an alternative you get a $2 million greenback elevate. You get an extension.”

How Kiffin acquired that elevate ought to have regarded acquainted to Nutt because it got here immediately out of his previous playbook. Discover a faculty that sees 8-9 wins as an enormous deal, rent Jimmy Sexton as your agent, then, annually when a distinguished job comes up, let it get out that you are the high candidate for his or her a lot bigger examine e book and do nothing to disclaim it.

A vacation season wasn’t full in Arkansas with out Nutt’s title popping up at one other faculty adopted by athletics director Frank Broyles calling Nutt in for one more elevate. Kiffin simply realized from the grasp and ran the play to perfection this yr.

It is not prefer it wasn’t one thing Nutt would have favored to have been capable of do whereas at Ole Miss. He simply did not have an athletics director serious about supporting soccer financially on the time.

“I used to be looking for these guys when Pete Boone was AD to construct a group assembly room and a weight room and I could not discover them,” Nutt stated. “We went to 2 again to again Cotton Bowls they usually would not construct a weight room or a gathering room, however they’d go construct a soccer discipline.”

Kiffin wasn’t the one coach whose monetary scenario flummoxed Nutt.

“Coaches are being paid tens of millions of {dollars} for shedding who do not coach anymore,” Nutt stated. “It is only a totally different world.

“It goes throughout the nation now. The directors and a few of these ADs are so determined. Matt Rhule, I do know he is coach, however he acquired fired for shedding. Nebraska goes to pay $74 million.”

However, as will probably be proven in an upcoming story, the coach whose fortune appeared to annoy Nutt probably the most was his sworn enemy, Hugh Freeze.

Regardless of the Degree 1 infractions, quite a few telephone calls to escort companies on an organization telephone, mendacity about Nutt being accountable for many of the infractions that just about sunk Ole Miss, and having a former participant admit on TV throughout NFL draft protection that he was paid by Ole Miss coaches, that is not what bothers Nutt concerning the rent.

“I am all for second possibilities and third possibilities,” Nutt stated. “No matter. That is nice.”

What bothered Nutt most was how Freeze’s Liberty group fell aside down the stretch.

“Auburn is gonna rent a man who misplaced the final month,” Nutt stated. “You possibly can inform when he began in search of jobs. He acquired beat by New Mexico State. He acquired beat by UConn, UConn acquired higher, and Virginia Tech. It is a totally different world.”

Nutt will be seen on CBS Sports activities as a part of the community’s school soccer analysts’ desk.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT/KARK) – The Arkansas Legislative Council Review Subcommittee’s contract renewal with an educational contractor has sparked controversy recently.

According to our content partner KARK, the number one cause for debate stems from the company Solution Tree’s contract price of more than $100 million, while similar companies are offering between $18 and $29 million.

State Rep. Grant Hodges serves on the audit committee that recently looked at the contract, and he said the state has spent around $145 million of taxpayer money so far on the company whose purpose is to develop educational material for educators statewide.
