‘Hoax’: Threat against multiple Colorado Schools not legit, officials say

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A threat targeting several Colorado Springs schools is a hoax, district officials tell 11 News.

A post making the rounds on social media showed a list of schools, claiming it was “all of the high schools/middle schools that are going to get shot up.” The post is primarily aimed at districts 2 and 11:

Both districts tell 11 News that while they take every threat seriously, the post is not legit.

“This appears to be similar in nature to the false and unsubstantiated social media threats that have been circulating over the past few weeks,” said Jessica Wise with Colorado Springs School District 11. “That said, we pursue every threat with the same rigor of investigation.”

“This post is not valid,” echoed Christine O’Brien with Harrison School District 2. “A hoax like this takes time and resources away from law enforcement and school districts.”

The Colorado Springs Police Department said it was investigating the post and told 11 News that if the individuals behind it were found to be local, “There will be consequences and [officers] will pursue them.”

All schools are operating as normal Tuesday.

Missing teenager last seen in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The Colorado Springs Police Department said 13-year-old Aubrie Vogel was last seen around 1 p.m. Monday at the 4200 block of Lee Street, in northeast Colorado Springs.

Police said she was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, white pants, white Converse and a green backpack. She was described as a 5-foot-2 and 120-pound white female.

Two Colorado players redshirt for remainder of the season

Deion Sanders announced that veteran linebackers Trevor Woods and Jeremiah Brown have opted to redshirt for the remainder of the season. This decision comes after both players participated in the first four games, with their absence against UCF marking the beginning of their efforts to preserve a year of eligibility. The two didn’t make the trip to Orlando over the weekend.

Woods, who has been a pivotal part of the Buffaloes since joining in 2021, transitioned from safety to linebacker midway through the previous season. Throughout the 2023 campaign, Woods accumulated 56 total tackles and two interceptions. However, his production this season has been limited to just 14 total tackles, including one tackle for loss. Notably, he played a crucial role in securing Coach Prime’s first victory at TCU, showcasing his ability to perform in critical moments.

Brown brought significant experience to the linebacker corps. Having spent his first two college seasons under Coach Prime at Jackson State, he made the transition to Colorado smoothly. His contributions have been modest this season, with six total tackles to add to the 11 he recorded last year.

With Woods and Brown now sidelined, LaVonta Bentley and Nikhai Hill-Green are expected to take on greater responsibilities in the inside linebacker positions. Additionally, Jaylen Wester, who is the younger brother of standout wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, has emerged as a promising option following an impressive performance against UCF. As Colorado navigates the rest of the season, the coaching staff will need to rely on this emerging talent to maintain their defensive strength.
