Wisconsin’s Matt Kenseth enters NASCAR’s Hall of Fame
“Nicely I feel each speech is just too lengthy by the best way. I am not large on the giving speeches,” Matt Kenseth says.
However now Matt Kenseth has to ship a speech. He is going into the NASCAR Corridor of Fame.
“I by no means actually raced for recognition,” Kenseth says. “I by no means actually like giving speeches or getting dressed up or doing interviews or doing any of that stuff. Proper, that is the half I all the time appreciated the least about racing, as you in all probability know. With that being stated, I all the time stated it was no large deal. Nonetheless, as soon as your profession’s over, for a few years you notice how various things are, proper? Like you’ve got lots of people you are like, yeah we’re fairly shut buddies. After which a few years go by once you’re not racing and stuff and you are like, I have not heard from him.”
Kenseth strongly remembers his first NASCAR nationwide sequence victory again in 1998 with Allenton, Wisconsin native Robbie Reiser.
“The best win remains to be that. Successful that first race at Rockingham with the Reisers,” Kenseth says. “That was our first NASCAR win collectively and we weren’t anticipated to win and we take the lead. Final led the final 150 yards of the race or one thing like that. We led one lap, and that was the one lap we led. And that was simply an unimaginable race and it type of helped proceed each of our careers.”
It helped launch his profession, full with 39 Cup victories, together with two Daytona 500 wins and the 2003 Cup Sequence championship. What some contemplate the final season champ, beneath the previous factors construction.
“If I had a alternative between profitable it in 2003 or profitable it in 2004? I feel profitable it in 2003 undoubtedly is what I’d have chosen, simply because I am in all probability slightly bit extra of a traditionalist,” Kenseth says.
Like many in professional sports activities, Kenseth stewed on the defeats nearly greater than his triumphs.
“I nonetheless get up typically and have nightmares concerning the Daytona 500 and I assume it was in 2016 after I led that complete time,” Kenseth says “Denny’s coming by way of there down the backstretch. And I used to be like, ‘ah, I gotta get in entrance of him and block him.’ So I went as much as block him. I made a horrible block. I did not get again right down to the underside quickly sufficient. I do not know if I will ever completely recover from it. You recognize, it is the Daytona 500. Thanks for bringing that up, now I am type of depressing.”
However it’s as a lot the moments because the victories.
“You recognize, testing, and racing rental minivans round Martinville attempting to get the monitor dry,” Kenseth says. “And melting hubcaps off as a result of the brakes are so scorching. Identical to every kind of enjoyable, foolish stuff like that.”
Kenseth says like in racing, folks will select what to recollect him for. Some will such as you. Others not a lot. However there is not any doubt he is among the finest Wisconsin has ever produced.

Wisconsin women’s basketball continues to slump with little hope for a comeback
The Wisconsin women’s basketball team is in a terrible slump and has now lost six games in a row. They have only pulled off one win in the Big Ten, and it was over Rutgers back at the beginning of December, which feels like a lifetime ago at this point. The season is falling apart on head coach Marisa Moseley, and as you look down their schedule, there are so few winnable games with the way they are currently playing basketball.
Wisconsin women’s basketball are 10-8 overall and 1-6 in the Big Ten.
As we look into the standings of the Big Ten, four teams still have yet to win a conference game: Northwestern, Purdue, Penn State, and Rutgers. Therefore, Wisconsin is not last in the Big Ten but is close to it with their lone win. The problem with the women’s Big Ten is that there are three tiers of programs this year: the good, the mediocre, and the bad. Teams like Ohio State, UCLA, and USC are all in that undefeated and really good category. At the same time, teams like Nebraska, Minnesota, Michigan State, and Washington are all in the middle of the road.
Wisconsin is firmly in the bad category. That’s not where they want to be, and it only seems like the trajectory is headed even further in that direction. They need a turnaround, and the schedule does not look promising. According to ESPN BPI, there is only one game left that Wisconsin is favored to win, and that’s against Northwestern. The rest are all predicted to go against Wisconsin. There are some winnable games in there against Purdue and Penn State, but with those being on the road, the predictions favor the home team.
The concern is that the program is slipping into being a doormat program in the Big Ten, and it’s fair to ask if it will be time for a coaching change if the above results hold out. Wisconsin should not be happy or content with these results and should be willing to ask for more out of the women’s basketball program.

USC Trojans’ Eric Musselman After Wisconsin Loss: ‘We Have No Home Court Advantage’
The USC Trojans men’s basketball team lost at home to the Wisconsin Badgers 84-69 on Saturday. Home court has not been friendly to USC in Big Ten conference play, where they have a conference record of 1-3 at the Galen Center, with losses to Oregon, Michigan, and now Wisconsin.
Trojans coach Eric Musselman spoke after the game about the loss.
In the postgame after the Trojans 84-69 loss at home, USC coach Eric Musselman had this to say as his team lost their fourth game at home and third loss at home in Big Ten conference play.
“We have no home court advantage,” Musselman said.
The Galen Center has not exactly been a hostile environment for visiting teams to come into in recent memory. In Saturday’s game against Wisconsin, the attendance was 6,938. The capacity at the Galen Center is 10,258, so roughly 40 percent of the arena was empty. That’s a major problem and one USC was hoping they wouldn’t face as they moved to the Big Ten conference this season.
The school Musselman is coming from, Arkansas, repeatedly had sellouts and is one of the most rowdy fanbases in the SEC.

The USC Trojans saw their mini two-game winning streak come to an end the loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin was in control of the game the whole way and cruised to a 15-point win. After the Trojans looked like they had turned a corner this season after wins over Illinois and Iowa, USC is now 3-4 in Big Ten conference play and 11-7 overall this season.
Against Wisconsin, the Trojans shot a healthy 49.1 percent from the field, but turnovers and missed free throws killed any chance they had of beating the Badgers. USC had 16 turnovers and shot just 11 for 17 from the free throw line. The Trojans were led by forward Saint Thomas, who had 19 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
On the flip side, Wisconsin shot 56.4 percent from the field and13 for 15 from the free throw line while turning the ball over four fewer times than USC. The Badgers were led by guard John Blackwell’s 28 points and five rebounds.
Next up for the Trojans is a road game at Nebraska on Wednesday. The Cornhuskers are 12-5 this season with a 2-4 record in Big Ten conference play. Tip off is set for 6 p.m PT on the Big Ten Network.
