Week 1 similarities between Seattle and the 49ers
Week 1 within the NFL is probably the most unpredictable week of the yr. Tremendous Bowl contenders fall to backside 5 groups, final place groups start a turnaround into playoff groups, and general sloppy soccer. The 49ers know this higher than anybody after shedding to the Bears.
Enter the Seattle Seahawks minus Russell Wilson, for as soon as. Led by Geno Smith, Seattle is absolute world-beaters after knocking off Russ and the Broncos on MNF. Not so quick. What if I informed you the 49ers and Seahawks performed in close to mirror picture video games? The result’s flipped, however the similarities in sport circulation, stat traces, and miscues are clear.
The group with the higher roster dedicated tons of penalties, turned the ball over, and outgained the opponent on the best way to defeat. Sound acquainted? Denver checked out what the 49ers did towards the Bears and duplicated it. Toss in a clock administration blunder on the finish of the sport, and Seattle will get revenge on Russ.
Regardless of the roster discrepancy, you possibly can’t have mistake after mistake and count on to win. Denver outgained Seattle 433-253, outrushed Seattle 103-76, and had seven extra penalties. 100 six penalty yards is tough sufficient to beat, however two fumbles on the goal-line make it unattainable. Denver blanked Seattle within the second half and nonetheless couldn’t come away with the win.
There’s an general anxiousness with 49ers followers when Seattle involves city, however it’s heightened after shedding in week one. The 49ers are the superior group. Certain, there may be some rain within the forecast. However, it is going to pale compared to the Chicago monsoon. I discover it very laborious to imagine this group will come out undisciplined once more.
In conclusion, if this group is what many imagine them to be, they’ll deal with enterprise. I’ve detailed the week one struggles for Kyle Shanahan-coached groups. It’s a literal about-face in week two for his groups. Anticipate the 49ers to return out sharp and able to go in entrance of the house crowd. The NFL is a week-to-week league, and after week one, each groups had been concerned in the identical sport. It is a larger sport for the 49ers, who will roll into Denver in week three.
Execute and keep disciplined, and the 49ers ought to roll.
