BOISE – July 3 is a special day in Idaho. On July 3, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed an act of Congress officially establishing Idaho as a U.S. state. Idaho statehood day falls right before July 4, the day all U.S. citizens celebrate American Independence.
“Over the past 133 years, the State of Idaho has brought great pride to our citizens and nation. When I look out at our beautiful mountains, forests and wildlife, rivers and lakes, it’s easy to see why people fall in love with our “gem” of a state.” Idaho Governor Bad Little states in a press release, “The greatness of Idaho is immense and growing. In the past few years, we have seen opportunity flourish, with record low unemployment rates and a robust economy. We are sending more money to the things that matter – education, infrastructure, public safety, and deploying historic tax relief. We’re planning for the future by investing in better broadband, water systems, and behavioral health services.
