Kentucky Basketball is racking up recruiting predictions for Jasper Johnson

It appears the Kentucky Wildcats have moved into the lead for Jasper Johnson.

After weeks of hearing that Alabama was the favorite for Johnson, momentum has swung in a big week in recent days.

With a decision set to be announced next week, several recruiting analysts have logged predictions for Johnson to end up at Kentucky, including Rivals’ Jordan Harper and Jackson Collier, On3’s Jacob Polacheck, and 247 Sports’ Travis Branham and Aaron Gershon.

The pick from Branham is especially notable, as he’s arguably the biggest recruiting expert there currently is in college basketball. He’s also been adamant that Alabama was the favorite over the last month, so things are definitely trending toward Mark Pope and Co. heading down the stretch.

While Johnson hasn’t set an official date yet, it’s expected to occur between August 26 and 31st.

To pull in Johnson and Malachi Moreno in the same month would be a massive statement for the Mark Pope era in Lexington. Let’s see if they can pull this off.

Some Ky. communities opt-out of Kentucky’s medical cannabis program

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – In March 2023, Gov. Andy Beshear signed Senate Bill 47, which legalizes medical cannabis in Kentucky starting January 1, 2025.

In April, he set up regulations to establish processes and procedures for medical cannabis businesses and registered cardholders.

The governor’s office says the intent of the program is to provide safe and affordable access to medical cannabis.

“I fully expect there to be a whole lot more come out because there’s been a lot of interest in this emerging market from within and from out,” said Matthew Bratcher, executive director of Kentucky NORML.

Kentucky’s Office of Medical Cannabis says they have received 196 total applications as of August 21, including 138 dispensaries, 26 tier I cultivators and 17 processors.

Bratcher said there could be even more applicants before the August 31 deadline.

Maps that details which counties and cities have currently opted in/out of the program, along with which counties and cities will have a ballot resolution this Nov. on the topic, can be found on the Team Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis website.

Kentucky basketball will get the final visit for one of their top 2025 targets

Kentucky basketball will get the final visit for one of their top 2025 targets

One player that Coach Mark Pope really wants to land in the 2025 class is four-star Braylon Mullins. The 6’5 two-guard is getting closer to a decision, and the Wildcats are in a really good spot.

After Malachi Moreno committed on Friday, he said, “I’m gonna make sure he puts this (Kentucky shirt) on.” So the Wildcat’s only current commit, along with the coaching staff, will do everything possible to make sure Mullins picks Kentucky.

Mullins is ranked as the 26th-best player in the 2025 class according to On3’s composite rankings, but he will be a five-star when it is all said and done.

The sharpshooter has set up a handful of official visits to schools like Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, and Tennessee, but the Wildcats will be getting the ever-so-important final visit.

Mullins will be in Lexington for a visit on the weekend of October 25th, and he has said he would like to make his college decision between this day and the 26th of November.

Getting the final visit for a recruit is always a good thing because it means the recency bias is on your side. Coach Pope will have that going for him as he tries to finish the job and land the elite 2025 recruit.

Kentucky has a really good shot to land Mullins, and it looks like Kentucky commit Moreno will do everything in his power to make sure he teams up with Mullins in college.

This is a name for Big Blue Nation to monitor as Mullins gets closer and closer to making his college decision.
