Fort Worth murder suspect tracked down in Austin two years after alleged crime
AUSTIN, Texas – Two years after a murder in Fort Worth, the suspected killer was tracked down in Austin.
After two years on the run, 21-year-old Jesus Jimenez-Gomez was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on Oct. 10.
He is a suspect in the Jan. 11, 2021, murder of 25-year-old Rashad Johnson on East Cannon Street in Fort Worth.
According to the arrest warrant, Jimenez-Gomez was in a car with two others when they shot Johnson. Johnson was an associate of one of the others.
Jimenez-Gomez was known to live in Austin. Officials tracked him down after figuring out the owner of the car was his uncle. In October 2022, a warrant was out for Jimenez-Gomez’s arrest.
The U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force in Fort Worth asked for help from the Austin division to find him.
“About a month after that request, there were numerous interviews that were conducted with known associates, family members, which yielded no positive return,” Brandon Filla, Deputy U.S. Marshal, said. “When you’re looking at a fugitive investigation over the course of 11 months, you start to learn a lot about them.”
At one point, authorities observed Jimenez-Gomez in a vehicle.
“Jimenez-Gomez fled out that passenger side door in an apartment complex and was able to get away from authorities at that time,” Filla said. “These task force members were able to reactivate that investigation over an 11-month span of nothing in the sand, no tracks.”

MISSING IN TEXAS
They got a new lead that led them to an apartment complex on West Slaughter Lane in south Austin.
“Jimenez-Gomez was observed outside the apartment where he went back inside the apartment, and that’s when the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force surrounded and approached that specific unit and were able to take Jimenez-Gomez into custody without incident,” Filla said.
At this point, it’s not clear whose address that is.
The U.S. Marshals say they will keep working to bring closure to victims’ families.
“We continue to apprehend and locate dangerous individuals in our community that commit these violent crimes,” Filla said.

Austin's Zilker Shuttle in full swing for the summer
AUSTIN, Texas – The Zilker Shuttle is in full swing on the streets of Austin for the summer. It operates on weekends and holidays, picking up riders from designated stops at no cost.
“We saw the little sign that said ‘go to 505 Barton Springs’, so then we parked over here, and now we are just going to wait for the shuttle,” says shuttle rider Emily Goff.
Families and friends boarded the Zilker Shuttle on Sunday afternoon headed to Zilker Park. The shuttle began operating on May 25, and will pick up riders through Sept. 2.
According to the City of Austin, the shuttle helps with traffic in the area.
“Each city has its own problems, but I think Austin is figuring it out. They don’t have the space, but they have got the organization down,” says shuttle rider Juan Montelongo.
“We would have been stuck down there, we would have been causing more problems having two vehicles down there, so this way we are kind of out of the way, and they just pick us up and tell us where we need to go,” says Goff.
MORE STORIES:
The shuttle picks up riders at the One Texas Center parking garage, the driver validates the parking garage ticket and drops passengers off at the CapMetro Route 30 Bus Stop near the Great Lawn.
There is also the option to park in the Gravel Parking Lot along Stratford drive. The shuttle will drop those riders off at the CapMetro Route 30 Bus Stop near the Rugby Field.
“That’s amazing. I love that,” says Goff.
There are three different shuttles used to service passengers, and a map on the city of Austin’s website showcasing the pickup and drop off locations.

Optimus Prime Arrested In Austin, Texas- No, Not That One
“Sometimes, even the wisest of man or machine can make an error,” said Optimus Prime in The Transformers.
There’s a man in Texas who knows that all too well.
Law enforcement officials last week arrested a man with the name of the Autobot leader. He allegedly stole a vehicle.
Austin Police said in an arrest affidavit that 37-year-old Optimus Prime Blakely has been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Optimus was stopped by officers on June 4 after he was seen driving a vehicle that was reported stolen.
As a robot in disguise, Optimus Prime took cover as a red and blue semi-truck. There was no description of the vehicle stopped by Austin police.
Optimus was taken to the Travis County Jail and was being held on $8,000 bond at last report.
