The unincorporated DeKalb County location has seen numerous protests, some turning violent.

FOX 5 obtained an internal memo that provides a blueprint for security monitoring.

It also lays out how extensive the pull has been to get on-duty city police to patrol the acreage.

City officials have asked FOX 5 not to divulge specific numbers given in the document. We can report there are dozens of police pulled for each shift covering all day and all-night coverage.

That deployment started in February.

On more than one occasion, protesters have set fire to construction equipment.

In the security memo, a manager told the security officers that if they see someone walking toward a backhoe with a gas can, go ahead and arrest the person.

Meanwhile, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, has explained to skeptical council members that the reason the deployment must continue uninterrupted is because “we have never seen this level of protest [violence] like what has been occurring.”

'Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars' features Atlanta doughnut king

The second season of “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” continues tonight on FOX — and there’s a “sweet” addition to this year’s contestant list courtesy of Atlanta!

Good Day Atlanta’s good friend Kamal Grant — owner of Sublime Doughnuts and Magic Middles — is part of this season’s competition, in which food and beverage industry entrepreneurs compete in a series of real-world challenges. The stakes are even higher this season, thanks to the addition of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”-alum Lisa Vanderpump, who will face off against Ramsay with her own team of entrepreneurs! In the first episode, viewers saw the business owners “pitch” themselves to Ramsay and Vanderpump, each of whom hand-selected their “team” for the rest of the season. And Grant is Team Vanderpump!

Now comes the fun part: Ramsay and Vanderpump will put their teams through a series of challenges, weeding through the business owners until only one remains. That person — who may just be the next great culinary entrepreneur — wins the grand prize of $250,000.

While we have to wait and watch to see how Kamal Grant fares in the competition, we already know he has what it takes to build a successful brand. Grant opened the first Sublime Doughnuts location (on 10th Street near Georgia Tech) back in 2008, after spending time in the Navy and studying at the Culinary Institute of America — and today, it’s the go-to for many an Atlantan with a craving for something sweet! Grant also recently introduced Magic Middles, re-imagining the famed nostalgic treat for modern shoppers!

Lionel Messi and Co. return as Miami hosts Atlanta United

MIAMI: Inter Miami are expected to welcome back superstar Lionel Messi and fellow former FC Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets on Wednesday night when they host skidding Atlanta United in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Herons (10-2-4, 34 points) overcame the trio’s planned absence due to rest purposes on Saturday when they ran their unbeaten streak to 10 matches (7-0-3) with a 2-1 victory over the host Vancouver Whitecaps.

Robert Taylor, who replaced Messi in the starting lineup, collected a goal and an assist and Leo Campana tallied for the second time in as many matches for Miami on Saturday.

“I am very proud of the performance by our players,“ Herons coach Tata Martino said, per the Miami Herald. “It was a very important win for us because it was a very difficult game in which we had to run a lot, work a lot, suffer a lot.

“It’s a very valuable three points for us because of the absences we had, and the expectations people had. This win was a just prize for the great job our players did.”

Suarez entered play Wednesday tied for second in the MLS with a team-leading 11 goals, one ahead of Messi.

While Miami is riding high on its unbeaten streak, Atlanta (3-7-4, 13 points) saw its winless drought extend to nine matches (0-5-4) following a 1-0 home setback to Los Angeles FC on Saturday. Atlanta has been blanked in five league matches this season.

“Watching from the sidelines, it was good to see just everyone giving 100 percent and just unlucky with the goal,“ Atlanta United defender Derrick Williams said, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I think … when things aren’t going your way, they really don’t go your way.”

Leading scorer Giorgos Giakoumakis (club-best five goals) sat out versus LAFC because of a hamstring injury. His availability for Wednesday’s match remains to be determined.
