State Fair CC forward Quincenia Jackson commits to Arkansas State


JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Arkansas State women’s basketball bolsters their roster via the JUCO ranks.

State Fair Community College redshirt sophomore forward Quincenia Jackson committed to the Red Wolves on Friday. The Illinois native played in 48 games for the Roadrunners, averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds per game. She shot 60% from the field and 57.1% from the free throw line.

Jackson had a breakout 2021-22 campaign, leading the team in scoring (16.7 pts per game) and rebounds (8.9 pts per game). She earned First Team All-Region 16 and All-MCCAC accolades. Jackson played just 5 games in the 2022-23 campaign due to injury, she bounced back in 2023-24 by appearing in 24 games.

Quincenia scored in double figures in 7 games this past season, including a 20 point, 11 rebound performance on November 25th. She had 15 points and 19 boards on February 24th, 15 and 10 on March 2nd.

University of Arkansas provost to step down, return to classroom – Talk Business & Politics


Terry Martin will resign as University of Arkansas provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs on June 30, 2025. UA officials announced the details in a news release on Friday (May 31).

Martin, a UA administrator and faculty member for 40 years, plans to return to a full-time faculty position at the UA as a professor of electrical engineering.

“Even though I am stepping down, I remain deeply committed to the University of Arkansas and its land-grant mission,” Martin said. “I know that the University of Arkansas will continue to thrive, change the lives of students, and make meaningful contributions to Arkansas and the world under Chancellor Robinson’s exceptional leadership.”

Martin was named provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs in November 2022. He held the jobs on an interim basis before that.

“It has been an honor, a privilege and the highlight of my 40-year career to serve the University of Arkansas as provost,” Martin said. “I’m grateful to Chancellor [Charles] Robinson, the Board of Trustees and the entire university community for their support and collaboration during my tenure as provost.”

Martin has served as senior vice provost for academic affairs, senior associate dean, associate dean, interim dean for the College of Engineering and interim and inaugural department head of biomedical engineering. He joined the University of Arkansas in 1983 as a graduate research assistant and was promoted to professor in 2002.

In the fall, the university will begin a national search to find Martin’s successor as provost. Details about the plans, timeline, and committee members will be announced over the summer.

Arkansas governor postpones multiple tax and fee deadlines in counties hit by storms | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette


Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has delayed multiple tax deadlines in multiple counties after severe storms struck much of Arkansas, her office said Thursday.

The Friday deadline for assessing personal property for taxes is suspended through June 30 in Baxter, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Fulton, Grant, Greene, Madison, Marion, Nevada, Randolph, Sevier and Sharp counties, according to an executive order issued Thursday.

Other suspensions in those counties include:

The 10% penalty of all taxes in those counties due on all persons and property delinquent in assessment.

Quarterly estimated income tax payments due from Wednesday through July 31.

Fees for a duplicate driver’s license, instruction permit or identification cards from Wednesday through Aug. 31.

Payment of a $10 fee for expedited title processing service through Aug. 31.

Interest and penalties for failure to “timely register a vehicle” or renew a vehicle registration.

The governor cited her authority in the Emergency Services Act, having declared a regional emergency Sunday, according to the executive order.

“Strict compliance with certain statutes would hinder necessary action in coping with the emergency,” her order states.
