MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAFF) – In keeping with our information accomplice on the Decatur Each day, a former Austin Excessive College soccer participant was discovered useless in his dorm room on Sunday.
Awysum Harris was on the Alabama State soccer crew for 2 years. Alabama State President Quinton Ross Jr. stated Harris’ dying of pure causes.
“Awysum was an excellent younger man who made an incredible impression on Austin soccer, Austin Excessive College and the Decatur group,” President Ross stated on social media. “He was beloved by all who knew him and can be actually missed,” Austin head coach Jeremy Perkins stated. “Our ideas and prayers are with Awysum’s mom, Sharay, brother, Asa (Martin) together with your complete household.”
Austin Excessive College soccer coach Jeremy Perkins launched the next assertion:
“Awysum was an excellent younger man who made an incredible impression on Austin Soccer, Austin Excessive College, and the Decatur group. He was beloved by all who knew him and can be actually missed. Though it’s heartbreaking and tragic to lose such an incredible younger man with a lot potential, I used to be blessed tremendously by the point I received to spend with him at AHS. He’ll perpetually be an Austin Black Bear. Our ideas and prayers are with Awysum’s mother Sharay and brother Asa together with your complete household.”
In 2019, Harris was chosen as a second crew Class 7A All-State member. Harris led Austin Excessive College soccer with 105 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, three sacks and three interceptions.

Alabama fans of Lauryn Hill will finally get to see that concert postponed from 2023 when she comes to the Orion Amphitheater Sept. 4, 2024.
She will perform his from her only solo album, “The Miseduction of Lauryn Hill,” as well as performing with the hip-hop group The Fugees, which features Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel. Her album was recently named the best ever made in a list released by Apple Music, beating out such entries as “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Abbey Road” by the Beatles, and “Purple Rain” by Prince and The Revolution.

Interestingly, Hill began her career as a teenager as an actress on the soap opera “As the World Turns.” She also played Rita in the film “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” before joining the Fugees.
At the 41st Grammy Awards, Hill received the most nominations in one night for a female artist, with 10. She also became the first rapper to win Album of the Year that night.
In 1999, she was the first rapper to grace the cover of Time magazine and she was honored by the NAACP with a President’s Award for her humanitarian work.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The search for a person of interest is ongoing after the death of a metro Atlanta man in Alabama. Deundray Cottrell, 31, was last seen alive while visiting family in Birmingham on the Fourth of July.
Birmingham police found his body in that same neighborhood Saturday. They said 31-year-old Julian Morris was with him and went missing at the same time.
Police want to bring him in for questioning, believing he may have been the last person to see or hear from Cottrell. Meanwhile, family and friends are expressing how tremendous the loss is for them.
Death of Deundray Cottrell ruled as a homicide, BPD searching for person of interest
“He was the embodiment of the word ‘love,’” said Angelica Harris, Cottrell’s sister, who lives in Birmingham. “We cry as we’re supposed to, but because he was filled with so much joy and we had so many great times and because he lived such an outstanding life, we always come back up for air and end up laughing and hugging.”
Police have ruled Cottrell’s death a homicide, but have not said exactly how he died.
Harris said her brother was pursuing a Ph.D. and moved to Atlanta to chase his dreams.
