Philadelphia police reviewing social media video of officer-involved shootout

Philadelphia police said they were reviewing a video posted on social media as part of their investigation into a shooting at a store that left an officer wounded and ended with the shooter being fatally shot by another officer.

The video was made by a witness who started recording after officers began struggling with Alexander Spencer, 28, on Friday night. Authorities have said Spencer fired a shot that hit an officer in the thigh.

Two officers patrolling the city’s Fairhill section entered the store and approached a group of men, according to a news release issued by police. As they tried to stop one of the men, Spencer scuffled with an officer.

After Spencer shot the officer, the other officer returned fire, according to the release. However, it is unclear in the video who fired first.

Spencer was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. The wounded officer remained hospitalized Monday in stable condition.

The names of the two officers have not been released. The wounded officer has been on the force for nine years and the officer who fired has been on the force for five years.

Authorities have not said why the officers tried to stop Spencer or what led to the confrontation.

Meanwhile, authorities were still searching Monday for Jose Quinones-Mendez, 42, who they say fled the store with the gun used to wound the officer. Quinones-Mendez is facing several charges, including obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. He is considered armed and dangerous.

New Hampshire Cub Scouts clean up community – Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7News

HAMPTON, N.H. (WHDH) – Cub Scouts recently showed their committment to cleaning up their community.

The scouts of Pack 177 were at Plaice Cove Beach in Hampton last month scouring for trash and getting it ready for the summer fun.

One scout said it’s all in a day’s work.

“Imagine you were coming just down to the beach to enjoy a holiday in the water and then you feel something at your foot and it’s a bag,” scout Logan George of Pack 177 said. “We help our community, we help our friends, we’re always kind and trustworthy and we help other people.”

The Cub Scouts do several other cleanups each year, including along the highway and on the side of roads around Hampton.

One of Jersey City’s most beloved restaurants will finally reopen as Harry’s Daughter has set an official date for its relaunch.

The Caribbean-Irish fusion restaurant, located at 339 Communipaw Avenue, was forced to close last June after a devastating kitchen fire. Jersey Digs covered the restaurant’s opening way back in 2017, and it has since become a mainstay not only of Bergen Lafayette’s dining scene but also of Jersey City’s best and most unique restaurants.

Harry’s Daughter will officially be returning to the landscape on June 5, reopening stronger, refreshed, and perfectly timed for summer. Owned by the husband-and-wife team Ria Ramkissoon and Alasdair Cotter, the restaurant will resume full operations with all the old favorites returning to the menu, plus a few surprises.

Patrons can look forward to a refreshed Caribbean beach bar atmosphere with Harry’s Daughter return, plus signature Trinidadian-inspired dishes and a backyard dining ideal for summer. The restaurant will also be rolling out a highly anticipated brunch service with the reopening.
