Snow Squalls Forecast On Sunday In Southern CT, Timeline Released
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service said southern Connecticut is expected to see snow squalls on Sunday afternoon, which could lead to hazardous driving conditions.
Beginning after noon Sunday and through 4 p.m. there is a chance for snow squalls to move through the state from west to east.
There could be “locally heavy snow,” and a quick half-inch of snow accumulation, accompanied by 40-50 mph wind gusts, the weather service said.
“Localized whiteout conditions” are possible, the weather service added. “These conditions will last no longer than 15–30 minutes,” the weather service said. “Difficult to locally dangerous driving conditions because (of) whiteout conditions. Snow covered roads and icy conditions may be a concern for interior areas where temperatures are colder before the snow. Coastal areas appear too warm for a flash freeze.”
Here are the forecast details via the National Weather Service:
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. West wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Sunday: Scattered snow showers between 10am and 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Southwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 16. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. West wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

House destroyed after fire in Tolland
Fire crews were dispatched to Bonair Hill Rd for a structure fire around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
When they arrived, the single-family home was fully involved, according to Town Manager Brian Foley.
Foley said in a post on Facebook that an adult male was outside on the property in serious medical distress and was transported to Rockville hospital. He also mentions that several family members got out safely and were staying at a neighbor’s house.
The home was completely destroyed, and the town staff and Red Cross are working to ensure the displaced family has access to any needed services, Foley said.
