Minneapolis Investing $3M To Fight Childhood Lead Poisoning In Rental Housing
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The town of Minneapolis plans to take a position $3 million in federal funds in an effort to finish childhood lead poisoning from rental housing.
On Tuesday morning, Mayor Jacob Frey, metropolis management and group companions highlighted the proposed funding in American Rescue Plan Act funding, which Frey beforehand introduced in his 2022 State of the Metropolis deal with.

“The proposed funding will assist Minneapolis be the primary within the nation to remove lead poisoning in rental houses beginning in our environmental justice communities with traditionally excessive ranges of lead poisoning first,” the town stated in a launch.
The goal is to place the town on a “path to remove childhood lead poisoning from housing” by the 12 months 2035, metropolis officers stated.

The primary focus of this system could be to interchange outdated home windows.
“This might be a data-driven program performing in neighborhoods that we all know have lead dangers for youngsters. This program addresses the necessity to discover and take away hazards earlier than youngsters encounter them,” the town stated.

(FOX 9) – The Detroit Lions suffered their second loss of the season on Sunday, losing in a shootout to the Buffalo Bills.
NFC North division standings
What we know: The Lions still sit atop the NFC North with a 12-2 record. The Minnesota Vikings are in second place at 11-2 but can move to 12-2 if they win on Monday Night Football versus the Bears.
Context: But even if the Vikings win Monday night, the Lions will still retain control of the NFC North because of their head-to-head record. The Lions beat the Vikings in Week 7 in Minneapolis, with Detroit eeking past Minnesota, 31-29.
What’s next?: Control of the division could come down to the final Week 18 matchup between the Lions and Vikings in Detroit.
NFC conference standings
Big picture: The Lions are also still the top seed in the NFC, despite the loss and the Philadelphia Eagles win on Sunday.
Both teams are 12-2, but the Lions hold the tiebreaker with the Eagles due to their conference record.
The top team in each conference earns a bye in the Wildcard Round of the playoffs.
What’s next?: The Vikings could clinch a playoff spot on Sunday, if the Packers defeat the Seahawks on Sunday night football.

Weather forecast: The fog and mist may linger through midday on Sunday for a large chunk of the state with a quiet and cloudy afternoon.
A system will bring a chance of snow to northern Minnesota tomorrow with a few rain drops or flurries in the south.
Winds will pick up throughout the day with a rather gusty forecast for western Minnesota on Monday.
Looking ahead
What we know: The front that passes by on Monday will bring cooler temperatures for the rest of the week.
The forecast shows a couple of chances of light snow this week.
One on Tuesday for southern Minnesota and another chance of light snow arriving on Thursday for mainly the northern half of the state.
Cooler temperatures arrive on Friday and into Saturday.
