Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts clash in high-stakes game with playoff implications | NFL News – Times of India
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin acknowledges the urgency of the situation, emphasizing the significance of these games in December as the playoff picture becomes clearer. The loss to the Patriots saw the Steelers trailing 21-3, with backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s fourth-down pass falling short in their comeback attempt.
Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, in his podcast, criticized Tomlin and questioned the motivation of certain players, stating, “I’ve felt that certain guys on the team aren’t in it for the team, they’re in it for themselves.” The atmosphere in Pittsburgh is tense, and Trubisky will once again take the helm under center in the absence of Kenny Pickett, who is ruled out with an ankle injury.
On the Colts’ side, they look to rebound after a 34-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew has shown promise, completing 61.7% of his passes since becoming the starter in October. Wide receiver Michael Pittman acknowledges the missed opportunity in the last game but highlights the chance to gain ground in the AFC South.
With running back Jonathan Taylor ruled out for a third straight game and right tackle Braden Smith also sidelined, the Colts face a tough challenge against the Steelers, who hold a historical advantage in the series with eight straight wins. The Steelers’ defense, featuring T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, is expected to be at full strength.
The game holds significant playoff implications for both teams, and with none of the Colts’ final four opponents having records better than 7-6, there’s an opportunity for a strong finish. The Steelers aim to extend their dominance in the series, having won five in a row in Indianapolis, including a 24-17 decision last year.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Joella’s Hot Chicken opened its doors in Broad Ripple in October 2018.
Sunday the business closed its doors for good.
In a Facebook post, Joella’s Broad Ripple said “It is with heavy hearts that we announce our Broad Ripple location closed its doors for the final time on 1/26/25. We want to thank our team and guests who we have been fortunate to serve since we opened.”
Joella’s Hot Chicken is a national chain, who’s website proclaims: “The place where hearts are always warm and the chicken is spiced just right. At Joella’s, we’ll spice our 100% antibiotic-free, hormone-free, all-natural chicken just the way you like – from just enough heat to bring out the flavors and warm your heart, to Fire-In Da-Hole, bless your heart.”
The restaurant was located at 1072 Broad Ripple Avenue.
No reason was given for the closing, but competition in the hot chicken market has heated up in recent years with several competitors vying for a slice of the industry.
Joella’s operates another location on 96th street, which is not affected by the closure.
Jeremy Fowler at ESPN reported the Indianapolis Colts will retain defensive line coach Charlie Partridge despite an underwhelming overall performance from his front.

This retaining comes after Indianapolis signed James Bettner as their linebacker’s coach, showing the team isn’t afraid of changing it up with their defensive staff now that Lou Anarumo is in charge.
Partridge was brought on last year from the NCAA where he spent seven years with the Pittsburgh Panthers as the co-defensive coordinator and line coach.
Under Partridge, the Colts’ defensive line only mustered 36 sacks with edge rusher Kwity Paye leading the way with eight. This contrasts their 9-8, 2023 campaign where the squad concluded with 51.

Partridge will get another chance to utilize game wreckers like defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to get his unit to sack the quarterback more while applying consistent pressure. Too often Indianapolis wasn’t getting to the opposing field general, and mixed with the lax coverage, resulted in easy completions and rhythm to get established.
The biggest player to watch under year two of Partridge is the 2024 15th overall selection, Laiatu Latu. While it’s harsh to say Latu undershot expectations, Indy likely wants more out of the former UCLA Bruin.
Latu concluded his rookie season with 32 tackles (five for loss), three forced fumbles, and 4.0 sacks. The Colts need better play from their defensive front in 2025 if they want to compete with the rest of a tough AFC conference.
We’ll see what impact keeping Partridge has. Expect more information on the defensive staff to leak as the upcoming weeks unfold in a critical offseason for Indianapolis’ future.

CINCINNATI — Lou Anarumo added a Bengals coach to his staff in Indianapolis. According to Tom Pelissero, former linebackers coach James Bettcher is joining Anarumo down the highway.
Bettcher was the Bengals LBs coach for the past three seasons, taking over for now-defensive coordinator Al Golden. He coached with Anarumo during the 2018 season in New York as well.
