Stow’s Kyle Buzaki shot 5-under par 65 at Windmill Lakes Golf Club on Sunday, and now holds a one shot lead after two rounds of the 93rd Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship.

Buzaki, a senior at Walsh University, went bogey-free on Sunday and sits at 4-under par total after 36 holes. He leads a trio of players at 3-under par: Cleveland State’s Brody Simms of Dayton (70-67), Zach Glassman of Painesville (70-67), and first-round leader Justin Atkinson of Brookfield (68-69).

Those three players are three shots ahead of their nearest challengers in the Championship Division.

Glassman leads the Mid-Amateur Division by four shots, the only player under par in that competition. David Hilditch of Avon sits in second position in the Mid-Am race at 1-over par.

In the Senior Division, Concord’s Brad Steven made four birdies, two bogeys, and holed-out a bunker shot for eagle-3 at the par-5 16th hole to shoot 66 and take the lead at 2-under par 138 (72-66) after two rounds.

First-round Senior leader Mark Borlin sits in second position at even par (68-72), with Marc Fried in third place at 1-over par (70-71) with one round to play.

ACE MAKER: Chris Minear of Akron made a hole-in-one on the par-3 14th hole on Sunday with a 6-iron.

The first round of the 3rd Northeast Ohio Women’s Amateur Championship was played Sunday at Windmill Lakes as well.

Megan Yoder, who lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana and plays golf for the University of Dayton, leads after round one. Yoder posted a 3-over par 73, and leads by two shots over Lexis Fickel of Louisville, who plays golf at the University of Findlay and is the PJ Boatwright Intern at Golf House Kentucky.

In the Senior Division, Denise Callahan of Canton leads after round one with a 4-over par 74. Dawn Swit of Chagrin Falls is in second place, two shots behind.

The Men’s Senior Division kicks off Monday’s third round of the NEOAm at 7:30 a.m. at Windmill Lakes, followed by both divisions of the NEO Women’s Am starting at 8:50 a.m. Then the Championship and Mid-Am Divisions follow, with the first group starting at 9:20 a.m. The tournament leaders will tee off on Monday at 11:20 a.m.
