Bronny James made his second NBA appearance on Wednesday in a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Los Angeles Lakers rookie checked in during the fourth quarter, getting a big applause from Cavaliers fans. His first NBA appearance came in the Lakers’ season opener when he checked in briefly in the first half.
Moments after coming into the game, James notched his first career points on a stepback jumper.
After the bucket, fans applauded James for collecting his first career points.
James hasn’t seen too much action so far in his young NBA career. He played just three minutes last week against the Minnesota Timberwolves, recording a rebound and missing both of his shot attempts.
On Wednesday, he played five minutes and recorded two points, a pair of assists and a steal.
It was a special moment for James as he got the chance to play and score his first points against the team he grew up watching his father, LeBron James, play for. The elder James spent the first seven years of his career in Cleveland and played for the Cavs for four more seasons after his time with the Miami Heat.
He led Cleveland to five NBA Finals appearances and brought the franchise its first championship in 2016.
While James likely would have preferred to get on the board for the first time last week, there’s nothing like scoring for the first time in your hometown.
Unfortunately, the circumstances for his first basket weren’t ideal as the Lakers lost in blowout fashion to the Cavs. James will look to build on his showing on Wednesday and eventually contribute regularly for Los Angeles.
