Why 49ers Fans Hate Mediocre Quarterbacks

49ers followers have excessive expectations.

Not solely have the 49ers gained 5 Tremendous Bowls, however they modernized NFL offenses and had two of the ten best quarterbacks of all time. So their followers are arduous to please. They demand one other dynasty AND one other nice quarterback, and so they’ve been ready for the reason that ’90s.

In a single sense, their expectations are unrealistic, as a result of dynasties do not exist within the Wage Cap Period. Have a look at the Rams — final season they gained the Tremendous Bowl, this season they stink. The lifecycle of an NFL group is brief. The closest factor now we have seen to a dynasty up to now 25 years was the Patriots, however they’re nothing particular with out Tom Brady. Brady’s capability to win Tremendous Bowls with many alternative rosters solely proves his greatness. Nobody else has been capable of do what he has executed.

Most 49ers followers perceive all of this already. Most 49ers can be very happy with yet one more Tremendous Bowl — neglect a dynasty. And most 49ers followers perceive that to win that Tremendous Bowl, they want an excellent quarterback.

It is truthful to need an excellent quarterback. Or no less than a Professional Bowler. The 49ers have not had a Professional Bowl quarterback since Jeff Garcia in 2002 when Steve Mariucci was the pinnacle coach. Mariucci wasn’t an excellent coach, however he was employed by Eddie DeBartolo, and labored underneath Mike Holmgren, and understood the significance of passing.

For the reason that Yorks took over the group, fired Mariucci and ran Garcia out of city, they’ve employed an countless string of head coaches who need to run the ball. Who do not appear to worth the passing recreation or the quarterback place. It is as if the Yorks, who’re from Youngstown, Ohio, need the 49ers to play Midwest Soccer, the place it is chilly and troublesome to move within the winter.

However the 49ers play in California. And their followers grew up rooting for Joe Montana and Steve Younger, and have spent the previous twenty years begrudgingly cheering for recreation managers resembling Alex Smith and Jimmy Garoppolo.

A lot of fan bases can be completely happy to avoid wasting strong, regular recreation managers resembling these two. Not the 49ers. The 49ers are the franchise that confirmed the world within the ’80s that soccer is a quarterback-driven sport.

How lengthy will it take the Yorks to determine what they need to already know?

3 California beaches closed as collapsed pier debris washes ashore

As detritus from the badly damaged Santa Cruz pier washes ashore, California State Parks officials are keeping three beaches closed. “Because of the amount of debris washing up onto the local beaches from the collapsing Santa Cruz municipal wharf,” Twin Lakes State Beach, Seabright State Beach and San Lorenzo Point will be closed until Dec. 30 at 6 a.m., Santa Cruz State Beaches said.

Seacliff State Beach and Rio Del Mar State Beach both reopened on Christmas morning, though visitors should take care: A high-surf warning is in effect along the coast from Thursday morning until Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service is advising people to stay off piers and jetties.

About 150 feet of the Santa Cruz pier and an entire building housing a restroom broke off into the ocean on Monday amid battering waves. Three people working on the pier plunged into the water, where two needed rescue and a third was able to rescue themselves. Since then, pieces of the wharf have been washing onto local beaches. There is no estimated reopening for the wharf itself. Waves also pulled support piling from the Cayucos Pier about 160 miles south down the Central Coast. The end of the pier was already closed as it incurred damage during stormy conditions in February.

“Please be cautious when near the ocean, as debris from damage north of Capitola is making its way down the coastline,” the Capitola Police Department said. “Several large pilings from the Santa Cruz wharf have found their way to our shores, creating an extreme hazard. Please use caution if you are in the area.”
