Staff Score Predictions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6) are coming off a wacky win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night time Soccer. The Buccaneers rallied from a double digit deficit within the last jiffy to flee with a victory over the reeling Saints. Head coach Todd Bowles and his group might want to regroup rapidly forward of a street matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, who’ve received 5 straight video games regardless of dropping beginning quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo a number of weeks in the past.

Rookie signal-caller Brock Purdy will take the reins for San Francisco for the second straight recreation because the 49ers look to remain sizzling. Purdy has accomplished 63% of his passes for 276 yards with two touchdowns to 2 interceptions. Count on a heavy dose of Christian McCaffery, Deebo Samuel, and Jordan Mason on the bottom as San Francisco tries to regulate the clock.

The 49ers have the top-ranked protection within the league, which is lower than ideally suited for a Buccaneers’ offense that has struggled mightily week to week.

Our employees offers their predictions because the Buccaneers and 49ers face off on Sunday afternoon.

Dustin Lewis (@Dussttin)

The Buccaneers are again to their successful methods after surviving towards New Orleans. Will a clutch win over the Saints be sufficient to energy Tampa Bay to a street victory out west? I am not too sure for a wide range of components.

For one, this crew simply does not appear to play constantly week to week. At most, you possibly can say the Buccaneers play up or all the way down to the extent of their competitors on that given Sunday. That is not precisely a praise or one thing to carry in excessive regard. As a substitute, it reveals the dearth of focus this crew shows.

San Francisco could also be lacking Garoppolo however the 49ers have received 5 straight video games and are the extra balanced crew. Coupled with a protracted street journey, I’ve a tough time seeing a state of affairs the place the Buccaneers hold this one inside vary.

This one will probably be enjoyable to observe, hopefully, if the Buccaneers resolve to play the primary three quarters. With dealing with the 49ers, one among their strengths is their protection and proper now it is arduous to see Tampa Bay dominate offensively. Regulate a possible totally different sort of recreation plan from Byron Leftwich on offense for this one.

One of many perks for Todd Bowles is that his protection will probably be dealing with rookie quarterback Brock Purdy. Can the protection get to the younger quarterback and trigger havoc? I simply do not know if they’ll do sufficient defensively to assist the offense general on this one if not sufficient scoring comes from Tom Brady.

Consider within the energy of a Tom Brady revenge recreation as he faces his hometown San Francisco 49ers who handed on him 9 occasions within the 2000 NFL Draft and two extra occasions since.

The San Francisco 49ers are a nicely constructed, nicely coached soccer crew with elite expertise at key positions everywhere in the area. They are not good although. And with rookie, Brock Purdy, inheriting the beginning quarterback job as a consequence of harm, there are many questions relating to whether or not or not this crew has what it takes to make a deep run this postseason.

As a lot as I wish to choose a Tom Brady-led crew over a Brock Purdy-led crew. Particularly contemplating Brady grew up simply half-hour from the stadium, rooting for the 49ers… I simply cannot do it. The accidents alongside the offensive line, and within the secondary, are simply too vital for the Bucs to beat.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made one other miraculous comeback to win final week towards the Saints. Now even at .500 the Bucs must put a string of wins collectively. Tom Brady returns to his childhood hometown to tackle the ever-talented San Francisco 49ers. Fortunately for Tampa Bay, the 49ers will probably be with out their beginning QB and should roll on with Brock Purdy. Purdy stuffed in admirably when Jimmy G went down final week, however with groups now anticipating to play him issues won’t pan out like they did final week for him. I count on the Bucs protection to as soon as once more management this one and the offense to just do sufficient to return away with the victory.

The Bucs are on a 3 recreation win streak however their offense has been very disappointing all through the victories. That’s unlucky timing as the highest protection within the NFL will matchup shading Tom Brady. By no means depend Brady out however the finish result’s a win for San Francisco.

Season Prediction Document: 7-5

San Francisco hotel workers agree pay rise after 3-month strike

What’s New

Hilton hotel workers in San Francisco voted on Christmas Eve to approve a new union contract after a 93-day strike, according to the Unite Here Local 2 union.

The union, which represents about 15,000 workers in the region, announced that the deal settles the last of the city’s 2024 hotel strikes, covering approximately 900 Hilton workers.

Newsweek has contacted Unite Here Local 2 and Hilton via email for comment.

Why It Matters

The new contracts after this year’s strikes establish significant improvements in wages, health care and workload protections for workers at Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott-operated hotels.

The agreements conclude months of labor unrest that involved thousands of workers and disrupted San Francisco’s hotel industry.

What To Know

Hilton workers voted 99.4 percent in favor of the agreement on Christmas Eve, which includes a $3 per hour immediate wage increase, additional raises, and protections against understaffing and increased workloads.

The four-year contract preserves affordable union health insurance and provides pension increases. The deal covers workers at Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55, with 650 workers having actively participated in the strike.

This agreement follows similar contracts reached with Hyatt workers on Friday and Marriott workers last Thursday, covering a total of 2,500 workers who had been on strike since late September.

What People Are Saying

Bill Fung, a housekeeping attendant at Hilton San Francisco Union Square for 29 years, said: “These 93 days have not been easy, and I’m so proud that my coworkers and I never gave up. We stood together through the rain and cold, and even though there were some hard days, it was all worth it. We will go back to work with our health care, good raises, and the confidence of knowing that when we fight, we win.”

Lizzy Tapia, President of Unite Here Local 2, said: “Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott workers refused to give up their health care or go backwards – and we proved on the picket line that we’re not afraid of a tough fight. As contract talks begin with the city’s other full-service hotels in the new year, they should know that this is the new standard they must accept for their own employees.”

San Francisco Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie said on X: “All those that have been out on strike will be back to work, and just in time for Christmas. So, things are looking bright as we head into 2025.

What Happens Next

Unite Here Local 2 said it would push for other full-service hotels in San Francisco to adopt the same standards established by the Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott agreements when contract negotiations resume in 2025.
