San Francisco’s Oktoberfest celebration Friday on Front Street will be the state’s first “Entertainment Zone” event.

A recently passed state law allows attendees of a special event to carry their beer and go-to drinks inside a specific area, which in this case is along Front Street between California and Market streets.

Oktoberfest on Front will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. at 240 Front Street. Schroeder’s, Harrington’s Bar & Grill, and Royal Exchange are participating in the event hosted by the Downtown SF Partnership.

AlpineSound will play traditional German Polka. Other live music scheduled include Ladyhosen playing from 3 to 7 p.m. and Pop Rocks closing it out from 7 to 10 p.m.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s well-being, already at risk because of an injury-depleted offensive line, could be under siege because of an ankle injury suffered by star receiver Cooper Kupp in a 41-10 loss last Sunday at Arizona.

Kupp’s absence, coupled with injured receiver Puka Nacua’s, leaves Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell as Stafford’s receiver targets.

The Rams must establish a rushing attack with Kyren Williams and a line that will welcome the return of left tackle Alaric Jackson.

The Rams defense won’t have to contend with injured 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, receiver/running back Deebo Samuel and possibly tight end George Kittle, but quarterback Brock Purdy still has receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings and running back Jordan Mason.

Attendees of the giant, annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco love being the butt of the joke. Last year, Seth Myers entertained them during a 40-minute set that poked fun at the tech industry’s liberal use of self-affirmations. “You are achieving, you are amplifying, you are accelerating,” Myers said. “‘Architect?’ I saw ‘architect’ used as a verb. I don’t even think architects use ‘architect’ as a verb.” 

This year, on Wednesday night, the roasting came courtesy of comic John Mulaney, who, like Myers, reportedly used parts of his standard routine but spent plenty of his own set roasting the tech crowd, much to their delight. “Let me get this straight,” Mulaney reportedly said. “You’re hosting a ‘future of AI’ event in a city that has failed humanity so miserably?” 

Per The San Francisco Standard, Mulaney later observed that “some of the vaguest language ever devised has been used here in the last three days. The fact that there are 45,000 ‘trailblazers’ here couldn’t devalue the title any more.”
