3 suspects, including 2 students, accused of spray painting inside University of Denver academic hall
Days after vandalism was reported on University of Denver’s campus, suspects are in custody for another reported vandalism.
On Friday night, DU confirmed in a press release two student suspects and a third suspect were accused of vandalism of an academic building on Thursday night. A potential fourth suspect also reportedly ran away before they could be caught and was unknown.
According to the press release, the three suspects are accused of being caught in the act of vandalizing a DU academic building. CBS News Colorado reached out to the university, and it confirmed the suspects are accused of spray painting inside the building.
Denver Police Department confirmed with CBS Colorado its officers responded to DU and arrested the three suspects. It did not have available information about a possible fourth suspect as reported by the university.
On May 19, DU confirmed a previous vandalism was reported on campus, and images shared by the university showed red paint splashed across entry doors to a campus building.
The previous response also involved a call for a shooting that was determined to be a false emergency by investigators. DU said a call was made to campus safety from a blue light phone about someone being shot. That call then triggered campus security and Denver police officers to respond to another location, tying up those resources.
When asked on Saturday, DU said a possible connection of the previous vandalism and false emergency call is part of this new investigation.
Anyone with information can call the Campus Safety non-emergency line at 303-871-2334, or you can leave an anonymous tip at the DU Campus Safety web page.

Denver weather: Chance of thunderstorms today only wrinkle in sunny Memorial Day weekend forecast
The Denver metro area is expected to enjoy a warm and sunny holiday weekend with only a potential smattering of showers and thunderstorms today leaving a blemish on the forecast.
The National Weather Service is projecting highs in the mid-70s both today and Sunday in Denver. On the Memorial Day holiday Monday temps could crack 80 degrees.
Forecasters are putting the chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Denver area at 30% this afternoon. Those are most likely to materialize between 2 and 4 p.m.
The chances of moisture go down but persist into the evening, according to the Weather Service. Any cloud cover is expected to clear gradually overnight with low temperatures in the high 40s.
There is no rain in the forecast for Sunday or Monday. Tuesday afternoon is projected to be the metro area’s next chance for precipitation.
The Weather Service’s hazardous weather outlook for northeast and north central Colorado projects that mountainous areas and communities near the Wyoming border are likely to see the most plentiful thunderstorms today. As much as 3 inches of snow may fall at elevations above 10,000 feet.
While metro area residents enjoy cookout-worthy weather, the Winter Park Resort is preparing to welcome skiers and riders for the last day of its 2023-24 season on Monday. In Summit County, Arapahoe Basin has already announced plans to stay up at least through June 9 this year.

Broncos may struggle to replace Lloyd Cushenberry III at center
An interesting tweet form March popped up in my feed that gave me pause. The chart from Football Insights broke down the pressure responsibility for each position along the offensive line and the results were compelling. For the Denver Broncos, it seems to suggest that filling Lloyd Cushenberry’s shoes at center could be a problem.
Allowed pressure last season by offensive line/their percentage of dropbacks with some responsibility, and QB self-owned pressures.

The whole interior line was strong overall, but Cush was one of the best centers in the league at not giving up pressures due to his responsibilities in protection. 6% was tied for the lowest percentage of all centers in the league, so that means Alex Forsythe or whoever ends up starting will have some big shoes to fill in 2024.
Also important to note that Russell Wilson led all quarterbacks in terms of being to blame for the largest share of pressures. He was a big part of the problem last year. Overall, the offensive line in Denver looks pretty strong and even their right tackle issues were merely slightly above average compared to the rest of the right tackles in the league.
If they can get good play out of their center this season, then Denver could be returning a fairly strong offensive line unit in the passing game. if that plays out, then it will bode well for rookie Bo Nix this season.
