Lance Zierlein 2024 NFL Mock Draft 1.0
We are heavy into NFL Mock Draft season, with the Arizona Cardinals and the rest of the NFL waiting for Sunday to come and go.
Once the Super Bowl has come and gone, we then get to get into the NFL Combine, NFL free agency then the 2024 NFL Draft.
However, until then we continue to just have fun with the daily mocks that come out.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com dropped his 2024 NFL Mock Draft 1.0 yesterday and it is a little different than any we have seen.
From NFL.com:
4. Arizona Cardinals – Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
The Cardinals need to add a big wideout. My comp for Odunze is Larry Fitzgerald. Perfect fit in Arizona.
Zierlein goes:
- Caleb Williams
- Jayden Daniels
- Marvin Harrison Jr.
So that leaves Odunze as the pick from Zierlein. In this scenario I would prefer that the Cardinals do what Lance has the Chargers doing, move down to eight with the Falcons.
He doesn’t give any indication on compensation, but here is what I would think:
Cardinals receive – Picks 1.08, 2.43 and 2025 2nd round pick (1870 points received + a future 2nd)
Falcons receive – 1.04 and 7.227 (1802 points received)
We can’t for sure say what happens next, but if we just keep the things the same, look at the options:
- Malik Nabers
- Brock Bowers
- Olu Fashanu
- Jer’Zhan Newton
- Terrion Arnold
- Laiatu Latu
Super good problem to have, plus a pick in the second and a future second.
Look at what Lance did with the second pick in round one for the Cardinals:
27. Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon
Powers-Johnson was having a standout Senior Bowl week until he exited with a nagging hamstring injury. He has the size, strength and versatility to step in and start at guard or center.
Interesting and something different and new.
That would be a welcome addition, would likely start immediately at left guard and then you have to figure out the left tackle situation.
So, in this situation let’s play out the second round (again I plugged in the whole first round into the simulator, this time using NFL Mock Draft Database). I gave the player at the highest position of need to each team (highest ranked on the consensus big board as well).
That led to the Cardinals draft by me:
1.08 – Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama (again not changing any picks despite the trade)
1.27 – Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon
2.35 – Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon
2.43 – T’Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas
Or Zierlein’s:
1.04 – Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
1.27 – Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon

California-based Mendocino Farms opens first location in Arizona
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — A trendy fast-casual sandwich and salad restaurant from California is opening shop in Arizona!
Mendocino Farms opened its first Arizona location in the Gainey Ranch area of Scottsdale on Tuesday. It’s located near Scottsdale and Doubletree Ranch roads,
The restaurant is a hit with Californians, but now Arizona residents won’t have to go far to get the delicious, healthy food.
“At Mendocino Farms, we’re on a mission to make hearts and stomachs happy, and we do that with our chef-crafted, farm-fresh sandwiches, salads and catering,” Marketing Manager Keenan Thanprathit said. “We’re so excited to be planting our roots here in Scottsdale.”
Thanprathit walked Good Morning Arizona through some of the chains most popular items like the Farm Club, which is an elevated turkey club sandwich, and the Not-So-Fried Chicken Sandwich, which he said is a guilt-free version of the classic chicken sandwich.
He also showed off the top-selling salad: Avocado and Quinoa Superfood Ensalada.
“We also just offer a lot of hospitality, so whatever you’re looking to kind of try, we’re here to help,” Thanprathit said.
The first 100 guests at the Scottsdale location on Tuesday get a special tote bag with some unique gifts.

2 adults, 1 underage teen hospitalized after being shot in Maryvale
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police are working to figure out what led up to three people being shot Monday night in the west Phoenix neighborhood of Maryvale.
Officers were called out to a house on Belvoir Road, south of Thomas Road, near 93rd Avenue, after 8:30 p.m.
They found two adults and an underage teen shot. All three victims were taken to the hospital and should survive, police said.
Detectives said they are looking for where the actual shooting took place, possibly in a nearby area.
Investigators haven’t whether there is a suspect or suspects on the loose.
Arizona’s Family is working to gather more information.

Arizona sees welcome rain and snow forecast after dry winter
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Rain and snow are expected across Arizona this week, providing much-needed moisture after an unusually dry winter season.
Phoenix has received less than two-tenths of an inch of rain in 2026, which is more than an inch below average for this time of year.
The city is experiencing its warmest February on record, according to the National Weather Service.
Northern Arizona snow deficit continues
Flagstaff typically receives around five feet of snow by this point in the season, but only a little more than a foot has fallen so far this winter.
“The outlook through at least the early part of the spring does continue to favor a La Niña-like pattern, and that would lead to increased chances for below normal precipitation,” said Megan Taylor, National Weather Service meteorologist. “So the long-range outlook is basically a continuation of what we’ve seen. So we’re grateful to see this active pattern right now.”
Last season remained dry in northern Arizona until March, when several weather systems deposited about three feet of snow during that month.
The forecast indicates the current dry pattern may not allow the region to make up the precipitation deficit this season.
