Vanderbilt basketball will be facing a familiar face for the second time this season.
After visiting Jordan Wright and LSU in January, the Commodores (6-16, 1-8 SEC) will now travel to Columbia to face South Carolina (20-3, 8-2) and Myles Stute. Stute, who left Vanderbilt prior to the NIT a year ago, is the Gamecocks’ fourth-leading scorer.
He joins a lineup laden with freshmen and transfers who have helped to rebuild No. 20 South Carolina. Wofford transfer BJ Mack, Minnesota transfer Ta’Lon Cooper and Stute have been three of the top four scorers for the Gamecocks.

After getting its first SEC win against Missouri, Vanderbilt fell back by giving up 109 points in a loss to Kentucky, the most points it has allowed in 28 years.
That’s not likely to happen at Colonial Life Arena — South Carolina is a defense-focused team that plays a lot of low-scoring games — but the Commodores also haven’t shown any signs of the post-Missouri breakout that coach Jerry Stackhouse had hoped for.
