Homeless man found dead in wooded area in Augusta


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a homeless man who was found in a wooded area Friday evening.

The Coroner’s Office responded to the I-520 east bound ramp at Windsor Spring Road in reference to a deceased person.

The Coroner’s Office states the victim was pronounced dead around 5:45 p.m.

According to officials, the death is considered suspicious.

Their name will be released once a positive ID has been made, according to the Coroner.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

Accident involving 18-wheeler slows traffic on Riverwatch Parkway


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A traffic accident involving an 18-wheeler occurred at Stevens Creek Road and Riverwatch Parkway Thursday evening, according to officials.

The busy intersection also seems to be blocked by a train. It appears that the 18-wheeler and the train collided.

Richmond County dispatch said the call came in at 6:20 p.m.

Officials say there are no injuries. As of 6:40 p.m., officials were still on scene.

Around 6:45 there were around a dozen spectators watching the scene.
