Fans were surprised at reports that A-list actor Chris Evans had tied the knot with girlfriend Alba Baptista at a private ceremony in Cape Cod, Massachusetts Saturday.

Baptista, 26, and Evans, 42, exchanged vows at a private estate with Hollywood stars such as Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth in attendance, according to Page Six.

The wedding was ‘locked down tight’ as guests turned in their phones and signed NDAs ahead of the ceremony, a source told the outlet.

 Road to Hollywood

Baptista told the industry outlet Fade to Her in 2021 about her path to becoming an actress, saying she was recruited by a talent agent as a teen.

‘It happened by chance when I was fifteen,’ she said. ‘I was invited to an audition for a leading role in a film where the director simply asked me existentialist questions.’

She said the director ‘wanted to understand how [her] mind worked and processed philosophical information.

‘This approach made me fall in love with the idea of acting.’

Baptista said she desires ‘to discover new realities and possibilities at the reach of my own mind, to be in control of foreign emotions’ and ‘to simultaneously hide myself while giving myself fully.’

She added, ‘It still mesmerizes me to this day. Probably will my entire life.’

Professional life

Baptista has been acting for more than a decade, with her most prominent role coming with the 2022 film Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, in which she plays Natasha.

She got her start in Portugal appearing on a number of TV shows, including Jardins Proibidos, Filha da Lei, Madre Paula, A Criação and A Impostora.

Baptista in 2020 made her debut in an English-language production in the Netflix series Warrior Nun, in which she portrayed the role of Ava Silva.

Kristina Tonteri-Young and Lorena Andrea were her costars on the Simon Barry-created series on the streamer, which was canceled late last year.

Baptista spoke about the series with Fade to Her, saying that ‘apart from it being an action and fantasy show, it’s a plot about female empowerment’ and ‘how girls, women, are stronger together.’

She added: ‘I’m proud of representing this mentality alongside my amazing cast members.’

Baptista has four projects coming out in the future, as they are in varying stages of production. They include Amelia’s Children, Borderline, Bodyhackers and Dulcineia.

Early romance with Evans

Baptista and Evans were initially linked in reports last November, as an insider told People that they had been seeing one another for ‘over a year.’

Said the source: ‘They are in love, and Chris has never been happier … his family and friends all adore her.’

Amid news of their relationship going public, Baptista and Evans were seen holding hands on a romantic walk in New York City’s Central Park days after the report was published.

The next day, he left an emoji response to one of her social media posts.

They went Instagram official in January, as they were seen in a clip in which they were playfully trying to frighten one another.

They continued documenting their romance via social media, engaging in PDA in Valentine’s Day posts in February, and going on outings in which they skied, picked apples and watching the Northern Lights.

Bachelor no more

Evans had been in a number of high-profile romances prior to Baptista, having dated Jessica Biel (who went on to wed Justin Timberlake) for five years; Minka Kelly and Jenny Slate.

He also had been briefly linked to actresses Emmy Rossum, Kate Bosworth, Dianna Agron and Christina Ricci, according to US Weekly.

Evans last November was named People’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive; he told the publication that he was looking forward to settling down after years of bachelorhood.

‘That’s absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family,’ the actor said. ‘When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships; the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared.’

He said that his life experience supported the idea: ‘It’s also something through my long 41 years that also rings true.

‘Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony. I had a lot of that in my life, so the idea of creating that – I can’t think of anything better.’

Bay State museums make great winter excursions

It’s cold and gray and the idea of heading outside is literally chilling. You need beauty, history, intrigue and warmth.

Fortunately the Bay State is blessed with fantastic museums, both major institutions and small, unique versions.

Consider adding these museums to your cold winter venture list.

The One With the Heist

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston (https://www.gardnermuseum.org) is worth a winter visit for its beautiful indoor courtyard, lovely café and intimate art display rooms.

But there’s so much more. First, the story behind how the museum was founded is told via photos and written word along one wall of the museum. It’s a great story with a female lead: Isabella herself commissioned it all after the art collector inherited just under $2 million back in the late 1800s.

But then there’s The Heist: the largest and still-unsolved art theft that went down in the wee hours of March 18, 1990 is the stuff of legend – and documentaries. Read up – or watch up – on it before a visit.

The One With the Murder Mystery

Did Lizzie Borden take an ax? Head down to Fall River and spend some time in the home where the infamous murders took place on Aug. 4, 1892. The Lizzie Borden House (https://lizzie-borden.com) offers property tours, ghost tours, cemetery tours and even a 10 p.m. -midnight ghost hunt.

The day tours are the only time you get access to every room, including the one that Abby Borden, Lizzie’s stepmother, was murdered in.

You can stay overnight should you wish, sleeping (or staying awake listening for ghostly creaks) where it all happened.

Hosts share facts and encourage opinion and speculation about the murders, the existence of ghosts and more.

“The Trial of Lizzie Borden” by Cara Robinson is a perfect fireside read, and will get you up to speed on all the nuances of the case before you visit.

The One with the Cat in the Hat

You never grow out of Dr. Seuss, and a winter visit to The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum in Springfield (https://seussinspringfield.org) is a great place to celebrate Theodor Geisel – his childhood in Springfield, creativity, success and more.

There are family friendly games, amazing displays and a setting that warms your heart. You’re treated to kid-friendly biographical information, and a Seuss trivia quiz.

The One With the Heroes

The Hull Lifesaving Museum isn’t big, but it packs a huge and amazing story.

Located in the former Point Allerton US Lifesaving Station on Nantasket Avenue (https://www.hulllifesavingmuseum.org) which opened in 1889 under the leadership of Joshua James who is considered a “father” of the US Coast Guard, the museum celebrates not just the founding of the Coast Guard, but “skills, courage and caring,” the hallmarks of sea lifesaving programs,

You’ll learn about the history of these lifesaving skills, the people who helped innovate those programs and more about the sea, ships and more.

The Museum has a standing collection as well as special exhibits and is open year-round. Before your visit, read up on the deadly Great Blizzard of 1888 in which more than 200 ships were either grounded or wrecked on the East Coast.
