Musk PAC steps deeper into Wisconsin Supreme Court election with $100 offer to voters

With a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat on the line in a state election, Elon Musk’s America PAC is offering registered state voters $100 to sign a petition to express “Opposition to Activist Judges.”
Registered Wisconsin voters can also score $100 for referring registered state voters to sign.
“Wisconsin registered voters receive $100 for signing the petition & $100 for each signer they refer,” a tweet on the PAC’s X account states.
Signers must provide their name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
“Judges should interpret laws as written, not rewrite them to fit their personal or political agendas,” the petition reads. “By signing below, I’m rejecting the actions of activist judges who impose their own views and demanding a judiciary that respects its role—interpreting, not legislating.”

Early voting ahead of the April 1 election is already underway in the state.
While reports indicate that the Wisconsin race is technically nonpartisan, there is a clear partisan divide in the contest.
The state’s former GOP attorney general, Brad Schimel, is running for the seat against Dane County Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford, who is backed by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

Even before the petition signing offer, America PAC had already spent millions ahead of the state’s Supreme Court contest, a filing available on the Wisconsin Campaign Finance Information System website shows.
Liberal megadonor George Soros donated $1 million to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in January, according to a filing — the Democratic Party of Wisconsin gave $2 million to Crawford’s campaign in January, according to another filing.
“Very important to vote Republican for the Wisconsin Supreme Court to prevent voting fraud!” Musk tweeted in January.

Former state lawmaker Justin Eichorn released after arrest for alleged enticement of a minor

Former Minnesota state Sen. Justin Eichorn was granted pre-trial release on Wednesday after being charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor in connection to a prostitution sting.
Eichorn, 40, is accused of arranging to meet up with a 17-year-old girl for sex on March 17.
On Wednesday, the Republican was granted release from jail pending trial, with requirements that he go to a halfway house once a bed is available and be monitored by GPS.

Fox News Digital previously reported Eichorn was allegedly speaking with a girl who he was told was underage for about a week before arranging to meet on March 17 for sex.
When he arrived at the meet-up, he realized the person he was talking to online was actually an undercover agent, affiliate FOX 9 Minneapolis reported.
The former senator was arrested and initially granted release at his first court appearance, but prosecutors over the weekend requested a new detention hearing, claiming he asked his wife to move a laptop from his apartment before investigators arrived, according to FOX 9.

Court documents showed FBI agents, who arrived at the apartment before his wife, told her she could not take the laptop, which Eichorn’s attorneys argued was for their shared real estate business.
Also inside the apartment was a factory-reset cellphone and a gun Eichorn allegedly denied having when speaking with a probation officer, FOX 9 reported.
Eichorn’s attorneys said the gun was kept in case anyone acted on threats he received about recent legislation he authored defining “Trump derangement syndrome,” or TDS, as a mental illness in Minnesota, according to the report.

Nonprofit garden organization Detroit Abloom loses everything in a fire

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A propane tank should never be used indoors, fire officials warn. Unfortunately, that may be what’s behind a fire at a nonprofit flower farm in Detroit, causing major damage and a loss of everything they were growing for the season.
“We lost over a thousand seedlings,” said Tom Milano, co-founder of Detroit Abloom. “Our potted plants got pulverized. All the shelving just desegregated.”
Detroit Abloom is an organization founded by Milano and his wife, Nancy. The group hosts a wellness garden for plant-based diets to help feed the community, along with using cut flower farming, the creation of native plants and sanctuary gardens to repurpose blighted land in the city of Detroit.
Tom Milano said everything just went up in flames after he lit a burner attached to a propane tank inside the organizations hoop house on the city’s east side. The burner, Tom Milano said, fell off the propane tank because the piece connecting it to the nose of the tank broke.
I reached out to a fire marshal to confirm if the small tank was being used properly. I was told no and a propane tank should never be used indoors.
Detroit Abloom organizers said they were not aware of this and that they had been using the tanks for years to heat up the hoop house, so the seedlings could grow.
Along with the seedlings and plants that were destroyed in the fire, so was the hoop house’s plastic roofing.
Now the team is looking to rebuild, but the organization will need to raise money.
“We need to raise like $15,000 to get back to where we were before,” Tom Milano said.
Neighbors who heard about the devastating fire stopped by the hoop house to help clean up.
When I asked them why they came out, their answer was simple: “They’re neighbors,” James Rhodes said. ‘And we help neighbors.”
Tom Milano, said they have never experienced this kind of devastation, but they are hoping the community will step in like Rhodes to help them rebuild.
“Detroit Abloom is all about learning how we can bloom from within,” Tom Milano said. “And as we bloom from within, the world blooms from without.”

Milwaukee man's legal battle over unlawful detention continues after decade

MILWAUKEE — It has been a decade since Isaiah Taylor was apprehended by Milwaukee police, yet the emotional toll of that night remains vivid for him.
“When I was in the back of that car, I was terrified. I didn’t know if I was going to be taken away or what my end was going to look like,” Taylor recalled.

At just 16 years old, Taylor was crossing busy Capitol Drive to deliver a frozen turkey to a neighbor just days before Christmas when he was stopped, frisked and detained by Officers Justin Schwarzhuber and Jasen Rydzewski.
Body camera footage revealed that the officers approached Taylor and continued to question him after discovering the frozen bird inside a brown paper bag.
“All I could do was look back at my house across the street with my porch light still on, knowing my mom didn’t know what was going on,” Taylor said.
His mother, former State Senator Lena Taylor, said she remembers that night as if it were yesterday.
“I remember being in the foyer of the house,” she said. “I remember just holding him for a long time. We just cried together.”

Isaiah Taylor granted new trial
In 2021, Isaiah Taylor sued the City of Milwaukee and the officers for violating his constitutional rights. A jury found the officers not liable, leading Taylor to appeal the decision in 2023.
This month, the Seventh Circuit Court ruled that the officers were not entitled to qualified immunity regarding Isaiah’s Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure.
“If you don’t have reasonable suspicion that someone has committed a crime, you can’t hold them for even a second,” attorney Mark Thomsen, who represents Taylor, said. “They ran for the warrant check after they both knew it was a turkey. They were just hoping to fish for something so they could arrest another young man.”
The Seventh Circuit Court has ordered a new trial. Taylor emphasized that the lawsuit is not about financial gain but rather about having his voice heard in a courtroom of his peers.

“To see if the justice system will work for me and not against me—I’m just happy I get to share my story and tell my truth,” he said.
As Isaiah Taylor continues to seek justice, he hopes his experience will resonate with others facing similar challenges, ultimately fostering a system that protects rather than persecutes.
