While on its first bye week of the 2024 season, Michigan football has hit the road recruiting prospects to add to its class. But the Wolverines are also trying to keep what they currently have in the 2025 cycle. There have been several Michigan commits taking a look at other programs.

2025 Michigan Edge commit, Julius Holly, is currently in Alabama for a visit to watch the Crimson Tide play against South Carolina. Holly, an Alpharetta (GA) recruit, is a four-star Edge defender. According to 247Sports’ Composite, Holly is the 317th-ranked recruit in the cycle.

Holly is now the third Michigan commit who has taken a look at Alabama. Both safety Ivan Taylor and tight end Andrew Olesh have visited Tuscaloosa since committing to the maize and blue.

Michigan currently has the 15th-ranked class by the 247Sports’ Composite with 16 commitments. The Wolverines have already lost a couple of players who switched their commitment. Three-star wide receiver Phillip Wright left for LSU and four-star defensive lineman Nathaniel Marshall went to Auburn.

Holly is the only Edge recruit committed to the Wolverines in the 2025 cycle.

The Michigan State Spartans are sitting at 3-3 as they prepare for the Iowa Hawkeyes on their bye week. 

Jonathan Smith’s squad has been working to get healthy so it can finish the second half of their season strong. There have been some impressive moments in his first season as head coach, but they still have a long way to go to get where they want to be. 

One of the big reasons the Spartans are where they are is because of some impressive individual performances from the talent on their squad.

Today’s breakdown is wide receiver Jaron Glover. A redshirt sophomore from Sarasota, Florida, Glover has enjoyed a career season already. 

While he has missed a few games with an injury this season, Glover has caught 11 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Glover has caught 15 passes for 263 yards in the last two seasons, so he is already on pace to blow those numbers out of the water. 

After his season debut, in which he failed to record a catch, Glover burst onto the scene with a six-catch, 84-yard performance against Maryland, including a 34-yard touchdown on a beautiful strike from Aidan Chiles.

Glover has dealt with injuries early in his Spartan career that have prevented him from fully showing off his skill set. He has impressive route-running skills and good speed. Glover can run several routes, allowing the Spartans to utilize him in different formations. 

Due to Nick Marsh’s emergence, Glover has been relegated to being the No. 3 receiver in the offense. However, that role is not necessarily a demotion, as Glover is one of the best WR3s in the Big Ten. 

Glover is a sure-handed receiver who does not drop passes. According to Pro Football Focus, he has dropped just two passes this season, and those came in the same game. 

Glover could help Chiles by creating more separation on his routes. He has good speed but does not have the sudden quickness necessary to get open consistently. It is part of the reason Michigan State has not gotten a quick passing game going. 

Glover has a chance to break through in the second half of the season and be a major contributor to the passing offense. If he does, he elevates the entire team’s ceiling.

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -A local nonprofit dedicated to helping female entrepreneurs thrive celebrated its five-year anniversary in Jackson. To mark the milestone, the nonprofit awarded thousands of dollars in funding.

Women helping other women, that’s the goal of Michigan Tribe, a nonprofit led by two sisters, Alex Masten and Amanda Loveland.

“Michigan Tribe is a nonprofit organization that creates grants and events for female entrepreneurs,” said Loveland.

The nonprofit celebrated five years of giving back by giving even more, handing out $34,000 of grant funding to local women-owned businesses.

“We have, over the five years we’ve been in existence, given over more than $100,000 as of tonight,” said Loveland.

Tonja Worthey, owner of event planning business Worthey Occasions, was one of the grant recipients and says the money couldn’t have come at a better time. Tonja

“We just opened up here downtown in Jackson, and so being able to get the showroom up and going, every bit counts, so we’re blessed to have received that.”

But money isn’t the only benefit of working with Michigan Tribe.

“The women in this community have become our friends. It’s a community, it’s a network now, and we can all help each other,” said Masten.

“I was a female entrepreneur that kind of felt isolated for a lot of the 18 years… meeting a group of women has just been life-changing,” said Jaime Lawrence, owner of Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services.
