Is Ashton Dulin a sleeper in fantasy football?

The Indianapolis Colts are hoping the addition of quarterback Matt Ryan will result in a extra steady and productive passing sport. In flip, fantasy soccer managers would welcome that notion.

Because the spots within the broad receiver room are up for grabs behind Michael Pittman Jr., there’s some potential for a sleeper to emerge as a fantasy related participant in 2022.

Within the opinion of The Athletic’s Zak Keefer, that participant to regulate is broad receiver Ashton Dulin.

It’s all the time a tough proposition choosing a large receiver in Frank Reich’s offense, as a result of the Colts head coach and play caller has said again and again his intention to unfold the ball round. Now, Michael Pittman Jr. is a stable wager for an additional 1,000-yard season, however past him? It’s a bunch of query marks. New quarterback Matt Ryan will assist — his faster launch will permit Reich’s timing-based offense to run extra effectively, plus he sees the center of the sphere higher than his predecessor, Carson Wentz. Speedster Ashton Dulin is a reputation to regulate; Reich will dial up some deep photographs to him this yr. Parris Campbell has regarded robust this spring, however the damage query will loom over him till he stays wholesome for a full season. Rookie Alec Pierce regarded actually good in minicamp and will develop into the Colts’ No. 2 possibility early within the season if he retains progressing. Michael Strachan and Dezmon Patmon ought to battle for the remaining balls, however all instructed, the group behind Pittman is unproven, and any fantasy impression figures to be inconsistent.

The final sentence of Keefer’s assertion is the one to take house. Whereas targets are definitely up for grabs, it could not matter for the sake of fantasy soccer functions. There seemingly gained’t be sufficient consistency on a weekly foundation to actually belief any receivers exterior of Pittman Jr.

And that is coming from somebody who has had Parris Campbell on his dynasty group since 2019.

Whereas Pittman Jr. loved a career-high 25.7% goal share, the group WR2 for the Colts in 2021 held a paltry 13.7% goal share. That’s not even near the place we wish that quantity for a participant who’s second on the group in targets.

Dulin is a deep risk and has an opportunity to ascend up the depth chart however his ceiling is probably going the WR4 within the offense behind Pittman Jr., Campbell and rookie Alec Pierce. Realistically, there simply doesn’t appear to be room for upside in relation to fantasy functions.

Will probably be fascinating to see how completely different the passing sport could be with Ryan taking up, however fantasy managers ought to keep away from the deeper choices on the roster in 2021.
