Balloon release held to honor 16-year-old Serenity Wilson

INDIANAPOLIS— On Friday night, friends and family of Serenity Wilson brought pink and yellow balloons to Church of Glory.

“This is her favorite color,” said Sa’Niyah Boyd, Serenity’s older sister.

Serenity was the victim in a quadruple shootingMonday night.

“That’s my baby. She made me a Gigi. That’s my first born. They took that away from me I’ll always miss you. I love you serenity,” Serenity’s grandmother told the crowd at the church.

IMPD was called to the 3200 block of Forest Manor just after 11 p.m. Monday. Serenity was pronounced dead at the scene.

“If could just see her again we would just hang out. I would hug her. I wish I could warn here about the things that could happen, that would happen, but it’s going to be okay,” said Sa’Mya Boyd, Serenity’s younger sister.

Sa’Maya and Sa’Niyah both shared memories of their sister.

“She was the person I could always count on and look up to her,” said Sa’Maya.

“She was always mad because I was the oldest,” said Sa’Niyah.

The two were just a year apart.

“We used to watch Friday like every Friday. The movie we’d watch it every Friday,” said Sa’Niyah.

Dozens of people came out Friday night to remember her legacy and take part in a balloon release. Serenity’s sisters hope everyone remembers her infections personality.

“I hope they remember how goofy she was, what she would do for people, her laugh, her smile, everything,” said Sa’Niyah.

“It honestly makes me feel so happy that all of these people came to support my sister and it’s just very like fills my heart up,” said Sa’Mya.

IMPD is still looking for a suspect in the shooting. They’re asking anyone with information or video footage related to this incident to contact Detective Kyle Hoover at 317-327-3475 or via e-mail at Kyle.Hoover@indy.gov.

Analysts Say ‘No Reason’ to Believe Colts Will Beat Titans

Analysts Say ‘No Reason’ to Believe Colts Will Beat Titans

The Indianapolis Colts are ready to defend Lucas Oil Stadium from their division-rival Tennessee Titans, with many believing the home team to have the advantage. However, the analysts at Bleacher Report aren’t as high on Shane Steichen and Anthony Richardson’s squad this week.

After giving a prediction to each NFL game for Week 16’s slate, Bleacher Report keeps it real on their reasoning; they believe Indy won’t get the job done, falling to 6-9 after a close 22-21 loss.

“At this point, there’s no reason to believe the Colts can win a game they should win. The team will likely do something indefensible to screw it up, like fumbling the ball before scoring a walk-in touchdown or turn a throwback pass into a pick-six, all with the squad’s playoff hopes hanging in the balance.

– Bleacher Report NFL Staff

The Colts’ 2024 season has been full of ups and downs, especially from quarterback Richardson. Richardson has had great moments this year as a passer but has struggled more often than not, with only three touchdown passes to four interceptions over his last four contests. If the Colts are to win this game, Richardson has to take care of the football.

It might not be what Colts fans want to hear, but Bleacher Report isn’t wrong to say Indianapolis has a chance to be their worst enemy. After watching star running back Jonathan Taylor fumble a walk-in rushing score and AD Mitchell throw a baffling interception against the Denver Broncos, Indy must be better.

The Titans have three wins but fight their opposition underneath Brian Callahan. Their defense ranks second in the NFL in yards allowed per game (297.4) and possesses playmakers like defensive linemen Jeffery Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat, as well as linebackers Harold Landry III and Kenneth Murray Jr., so Richardson must be aware of the talent these three, and others, harness on the field.

The Colts (6-8) have the slimmest of playoff hopes that depend on other teams to become concrete, but none of it matters if Bleacher Report‘s prediction comes to fruition. Indy’s defense came to play last week, but the offense fell flat and has everything to lose in this divisional battle. Look for Steichen to be as ready as he’s been for any opponent on Sunday, as the season is on the line.

How much snow is Indianapolis going to get Friday? What to know

play

Snow is expected to fall around Indianapolis for a couple of hours after what started as a light rain early Friday morning turned into light snow showers about 10 a.m.

Central Indianapolis can expect up to an inch of accumulation, which could make for slick roads.

Meteorologists with NWS Indianapolis expect the snow to taper off around 1 to 2 p.m., with temperatures remaining in the lower 30s and dropping into the upper 20s this evening.

The NWS Indianapolis is also warning drivers to be careful this afternoon once the snowfall begins to end.

“It could result in some slippery surfaces through the afternoon,” meteorologist Jason Puma said — especially on untreated roads.

Will it snow for tonight’s IU vs. Notre Dame game?

For anyone wondering if tonight’s Battle for Indiana will be blessed with snow?

Meteorologists believe that tonight’s game will most likely not be snowy, but there is a chance light snow showers could periodically fall over Notre Dame Stadium.

“By that time the precipitation should move out of the area, so I wouldn’t expect a lot of snow going on during the course of the game in South Bend,” Puma said.

“It certainly will be cloudy and colder. There could be some light showers and flurries in the area, but we’re not expecting a big snow.”

Either way, the College Football Playoff’s first round will be worth a watch as it will be the first time in over 30 years Indiana football and Notre Dame have faced off.
