Donte’s Gift Express surprises East Cleveland families for the 11th year in a row

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Saturday, volunteers went door-to-door delivering wrapped gifts in East Cleveland. It’s a part of the 11th annual Donté’s Gift Express.
Last week, dozens of volunteers wrapped gifts, wrote holiday cards and bagged school supplies for 500 families at the Salvation Army in East Cleveland.
Four Shaw High School alums are behind the event: Donté Gibbs, Dominique Tucker, India Moore and Seretha Etheridge.
Created in 2013, Donté’s Gift Express has delivered gifts to more than 6,000 families in and around East Cleveland and raised close to $115,000.
Volunteers are recruited from all corners of the Northeast Ohio region on an annual basis to take part in the organization’s signature community service project.

Ohio Weather Alert: Severe Thunderstorms and Hail Threaten Cleveland Area Roads Sunday Night

Cleveland, OH – Ohio residents should brace for intense storms beginning Sunday evening, with the Cleveland area and I-90 corridor in the path of severe weather.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, strong to severe thunderstorms are likely from Sunday afternoon into early Monday. These storms could bring damaging winds up to 50 mph, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Rainfall totals may exceed half an inch, especially during high-impact storm cells.
Travelers on I-90 and I-71 should expect hazardous conditions Sunday night. Sudden downpours may reduce visibility and create ponding on roadways, increasing accident risks. Commuters and residents are urged to secure outdoor items, monitor local alerts, and prepare for possible power outages.
Temperatures will remain unseasonably warm through Sunday, with highs near 69°F. However, cooler air returns Monday as highs dip to 57°F, accompanied by lingering rain.
Extended 5-Day Cleveland Forecast:
- Sunday: Showers likely, thunderstorms after 5 p.m. High near 69°F. Winds 10-15 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
- Monday: Rain continues, high near 57°F. Gusts may reach 25 mph. Rainfall up to a quarter inch.
