Community members in San Francisco’s Castro District are raising concerns after they say a naked man was seen walking around and following children. The incidents were caught on camera.
The videos and photos show a man who appears to be nearly naked and inappropriately touching himself.
“The problem is that now he’s been targeting kids because he’s been following kids he’s in front of the kids doing it and he’s been doing this for they said it for a year,” one San Francisco resident said.
According to the one of the witnesses, the man was doing these acts while looking on at her daughter and her friends.
The woman wanted to remain anonymous for fear of backlash against her daughter. But she said he has been recorded on many occasions by the group when they hang out weekly after school in the Castro District.
“When to have a kid, you sign up for a job to protect your kids you know to provide for your kids and my kid is not safe,” the parent said.
The woman went to investigate last week and sure enough, the man showed up near 18th Street and Noe.
“He puts oil on himself,” he said.
He’s known to the many workers in the area. San Francisco worker Juan Hernandez said the man is concerningly punctual when children show up.
When police were called last week, they said the man was wearing only a sock. After investigating, police said they couldn’t do much about it.
San Francisco police released this statement on Tuesday:
“Through the course of the investigation, officers could not develop probable cause to arrest the subject.”
Legal analyst and former prosecutor Steven Clark said typically misdemeanors not committed in the presence of an officer has to be brought to the district attorney for prosecution. He added that investigators should do that quickly because there appears to be criminal conduct based on the video evidence.
“Clearly, I think the police need to be more aggressive in how they’re looking at this conduct,” he said. “When you masturbate in public like this in front of children ,that tells us something that is very different than dismissing it as public nudity.”
Parents in the area said until the man is stopped, they will fight on.
“The Castro has other naked guys the nudist and they are all fine they mind their own business they are part of the story of San Francisco and but this guy is a different story,” one parent said.

Charles Barkley has hope for the city of San Francisco after saying during the NBA All-Star Game broadcast that he met with Mayor Daniel Lurie.
The city was the host for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game. Barkley had been on the city’s case because of its crime and homeless population. During the broadcast, he expressed some optimism that the city would start cleaning up.

“Shoutout to the people of San Francisco, especially the mayor. I met the mayor a couple times. He’s been tremendous, and hopefully we can do something about the homeless population,” Barkley said during a game between Team Shaquille O’Neal and Team Candace Parker.
Barkley said last month he would skip going to the game because it was in San Francisco.
“He’s going to make the All-Star Team,” Barkley said at the time. “I’m not going. I’m not going to that rat-infested place out in San Francisco.”
Barkley responded to one of his colleagues calling San Francisco “beautiful.”
“San Francisco is not a beautiful city. Rats. Cats. Y’all are not gonna make me like San Francisco. No. Nope, nope, nope”

However, it was far from the first time he had criticized San Francisco. Last year, he ripped the city during the NBA’s alternative broadcast of the All-Star Game, which took place in Indianapolis.
Barkley asked Reggie Miller which he would choose: playing in the cold in Indianapolis – where Miller spent his entire 18-year NBA career – or “being around a bunch of homeless crooks in San Francisco.”
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green called Barkley “crazy” and said that Barkley was not “welcome” in the city. Parker said, “we love San Francisco,” but Barkley offered a retort.
“No we don’t,” he said. “… You can’t even walk around down there.”
He later suggested you could walk around the city with a “bulletproof vest.”

San Francisco Giants Future Hall of Fame Pitcher Will Shape Team’s Culture

The San Francisco Giants are doing what they can to keep pace in a loaded National League West. That’s why they signed Justin Verlander to a one year, $15 million dollar deal in January.
Verlander is a future, first ballot Hall of Fame pitcher that, in many ways, is the last of his kind. He’s the active leader in career wins with 262. Max Scherzer (216) and Clayton Kershaw (212) are next on that list and are Cooperstown bound themselves.
Those are the only three active pitchers with at least 200 career wins. Next on the list is New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole, who has just 153 career wins.
When looking hard at that list, Cole might be the last pitcher to reach 200 wins for a very long time if he even gets there since he’ll turn 35 in September.
Verlander will turn 42 years old on Feb. 20, and he could be the last pitcher to hit 250 career wins for decades, if not ever.
The game has changed in many ways during his soon-to-be 20 years as a Big Leaguer. For better or worse, how starting pitchers are handled today is radically different than it was when the Detroit Tigers first called up Verlander in 2005.
If any pitcher can produce at a high level after the age of 40, it’s Verlander. That’s certainly the Giants’ hope, but it would be no real surprise if he misses time or struggles like he did in 2024. Even if he has a middling 2025 campaign, production is not the only thing Verlander brings to the table for San Francisco.
“I think he’s going to be really good for us. Then for our younger pitchers to watch him everyday, it’s invaluable,” Giants legend and current president of baseball operations, Buster Posey, said about Verlander’s potential value per Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic.
From 28-year-old ace Logan Webb to 23-year-old Hayden Birdsong, every pitcher in San Francisco camp can learn from Verlander. His habits, his mental approach, everything he does can help shape the next generation of Giants pitchers.
His wealth of experience may actually be a greater value add to the organization than his ability to pitch.
As Posey said, the team would love it if Verlander can be a productive player for the team. But even if he struggles, just having a guy like that around will help make the Giants better, both today and and in the future.
