49ers vs. Cardinals Week 18 Live Blog
SANTA CLARA — That is the stay weblog of the San Francisco 49ers’ common season finale in opposition to the Arizona Cardinals. I’ll replace this incessantly with data and evaluation from the press field.
11:50 The Giants are sitting their beginning quarterback, Daniel Jones, and enjoying apply squad quarterback Davis Webb this afternoon after they face Philadelphia, which suggests they most certainly will lose. And which means the 49ers most certainly will not get the No. 1 seed. It is too dangerous that the NFL permits groups to relaxation starters. It is also too dangerous that the 49ers misplaced to a few dangerous groups — the Bears, the Broncos and the Falcons. Had the 49ers taken care of enterprise early within the season, they’d have a bye subsequent week.
11:52 I am curious to see if the 49ers protection performs as much as its commonplace in the present day, as a result of it hasn’t because the crew clinched the division title in Seattle. The previous two video games, the 49ers have given up 54 factors, regardless of going through Taylor Heinicke and Jarrett Stidham. Final week, the 49ers gave up 135 dashing yards — essentially the most they’d given up since Week 7. It looks as if the protection has taken its foot off the fuel simply earlier than the playoffs, which is comprehensible. However they will have to show it on subsequent week, which is perhaps powerful to do in the event that they take off three straight video games. I might prefer to see them play tougher than final week and put away a nasty Cardinals crew enjoying its third-string quarterback — David Blough.
11:57 Listed here are the 49ers inactives: Dre Greenlaw, Aaron Banks, Drake Jackson, Ambry Thomas, Ross Dwelley, Kevin Givens and Jimmy Garoppolo.
11:58 Listed here are the Cardinals inactives: James Conner, DeAndre Hopkins, Colt McCoy, Marco Wilson, Zaven Collins, Antonio Hamilton, Lecitus Smith, Robbie Anderson and Zach Allen.
1:25 The 49ers win the toss and defer. The Cardinals will obtain the opening kickoff.
FIRST QUARTER
1:27 On the second play of the sport, 2nd and seven from the Cardinals 23, David Blough palms off to Pharoah Cooper, who throws the ball again to Blough, who launches it downfield to A.J. Inexperienced, who catches the ball over Deommodore Lenoir, who falls, will get again up and misses a sort out as Inexperienced scores. Embarrassing. At the very least the Cardinals missed the additional level.
49ers 0, Cardinals 6.
1:33 On third and 4 from the Cardinals 21, Brock Purdy completes a display screen cross to Christian McCaffrey, who scores. That was straightforward. The Cardinals protection put up little to no resistance.
49ers 7, Cardinals 6.
1:39 On third and seven from the Cardinals 28, Samson Ebukam sacks David Blough, and the Cardinals go 3 and out. After the punt, the 49ers take over at their 38.
1:44 On 2nd and 9 from the 49ers 39, J.J. Watt beats Spencer Burford to sack Brock Purdy for a six-yard loss. Subsequent play, Brandon Aiyuk almost makes a diving first-down seize over the center, however the ball hits the grass. The cross sank on the finish. After the punt, the Cardinals take over at their 30.
1:45 Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles has a neck damage and his return is questionable.
1:50 On 4th and 1 from the Cardinals 39, David Blough makes an attempt a quarterback sneak, good points no yards and turns it over on downs.
1:53 On third and 12 from the Cardinals 41, Purdy spins away from unblocked stress up the center, sprints to his left, will get chased down, loses 17 yards and knocks the 49ers out of area aim vary. Tough play. Horrible cross safety up to now. After the punt, the Cardinals take over at their 26.

San Francisco hotel workers agree pay rise after 3-month strike
What’s New
Hilton hotel workers in San Francisco voted on Christmas Eve to approve a new union contract after a 93-day strike, according to the Unite Here Local 2 union.
The union, which represents about 15,000 workers in the region, announced that the deal settles the last of the city’s 2024 hotel strikes, covering approximately 900 Hilton workers.
Newsweek has contacted Unite Here Local 2 and Hilton via email for comment.
Why It Matters
The new contracts after this year’s strikes establish significant improvements in wages, health care and workload protections for workers at Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott-operated hotels.
The agreements conclude months of labor unrest that involved thousands of workers and disrupted San Francisco’s hotel industry.
What To Know
Hilton workers voted 99.4 percent in favor of the agreement on Christmas Eve, which includes a $3 per hour immediate wage increase, additional raises, and protections against understaffing and increased workloads.
The four-year contract preserves affordable union health insurance and provides pension increases. The deal covers workers at Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55, with 650 workers having actively participated in the strike.
This agreement follows similar contracts reached with Hyatt workers on Friday and Marriott workers last Thursday, covering a total of 2,500 workers who had been on strike since late September.
What People Are Saying
Bill Fung, a housekeeping attendant at Hilton San Francisco Union Square for 29 years, said: “These 93 days have not been easy, and I’m so proud that my coworkers and I never gave up. We stood together through the rain and cold, and even though there were some hard days, it was all worth it. We will go back to work with our health care, good raises, and the confidence of knowing that when we fight, we win.”
Lizzy Tapia, President of Unite Here Local 2, said: “Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott workers refused to give up their health care or go backwards – and we proved on the picket line that we’re not afraid of a tough fight. As contract talks begin with the city’s other full-service hotels in the new year, they should know that this is the new standard they must accept for their own employees.”
San Francisco Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie said on X: “All those that have been out on strike will be back to work, and just in time for Christmas. So, things are looking bright as we head into 2025.
What Happens Next
Unite Here Local 2 said it would push for other full-service hotels in San Francisco to adopt the same standards established by the Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott agreements when contract negotiations resume in 2025.
