Oregon is in a fuel emergency following a shutdown of the Olympic Pipeline, Gov. Tina Kotek declared Nov. 24.
The pipeline provides more than 90% of the fuel used for Oregon’s transportation and was shut down Nov. 17, Kotek said.
Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson issued an emergency declaration because of the leak on Nov. 19. The declaration activated an emergency management plan and temporarily lifted some regulations for commercial vehicles bringing jet fuel to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
A leak in the pipeline was found during regular maintenance in Washington on Nov. 11, Ferguson said in the declaration.
Oregon does not anticipate shortages to the fuel supply or jet fuel impacts at Oregon’s airports, but prices at the gas pump could increase for Oregonian drivers due to “higher-cost delivery methods,” an FAQ for Kotek’s order said.
The FAQ said it was unknown when the pipeline’s service would be restored.
The order directs the Oregon Department of Emergency Management to use an emergency plan to direct and determine how agencies can respond.
The Oregon Department of Energy will communicate updates and advice to the state and fuel industry. ODOE will follow the Oregon Fuel Action Plan, which gives guidance for outages or impacts to the fuel supply.
Commercial vehicles “providing direct assistance supporting emergency relief efforts” will get regulatory support from the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the order directs the department to provide waivers to “state-regulated hours-of service requirements.”
The order is in effect for 30 days, but Kotek can extend or end it early.

EMMETT, Idaho (CBS2) — A late-night crash in Emmett left one man seriously injured after a three-vehicle collision at a busy intersection.
Idaho State Police are investigating the injury crash that happened Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:58 p.m. at the intersection of South Johns Avenue and Cherry Lane in Emmett.
Police said a blue 2022 Can-Am Defender Max, driven by a 22-year-old man from Vale, Oregon, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on South Johns Avenue. A red 1999 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by a teen, was traveling northbound on South Johns Avenue when it collided with the Can-Am.
The driver of the Can-Am was ejected, police said. A maroon 2004 Toyota Scion XA, driven by an 18-year-old woman from Emmett, was traveling southbound on South Johns Avenue when it struck the driver of the Can-Am.
The Can-Am driver was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital. Police said it is unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt. The drivers of the Dodge and Toyota were both wearing seat belts.
Idaho State Police said it was assisted by the Gem County Sheriff’s Office, Emmett Police Department, Gem County Fire Department, and Gem County EMS.
The crash remains under investigation.

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR — A 25-year-old West Linn woman was killed early Thursday when her car left Interstate 205 near Milwaukie and crashed into a tree and a fence, Oregon State Police said.
Troopers responded at 2:41 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, to a single-vehicle fatal crash on northbound I-205 near milepost 13 in Clackamas County.
A preliminary investigation found a black Volkswagen Jetta driven by Sydney Rae Lewis, 25, was traveling northbound when it veered off the road for an unknown reason and struck a tree and a fence. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was impacted for about three hours during the on-scene investigation.
Oregon State Police said they were assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Clackamas Fire District, the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
