Relationships, opportunities lead Jayden Forsythe to West Virginia

West Chester (Pa.) Westtown School 2025 guard Jayden Forsythe had already been through the recruiting process once. So, the second time around he wanted to check all of the boxes when finding his next home.

That pathway led him to select West Virginia.

Forysthe, 6-foot-5, 190-pounds, initially signed with Xavier but requested his release following the coaching change. That led the Mountaineers coaching staff to get heavily involved and those connections played a critical role in his decision-making process.

“The relationship I built with the coaching staff and the resources for me to become a better player,” he said.

The three-star prospect is coming off a season where he averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 38-percent from three. The Mountaineer coaching staff liked what Forsythe brought to the table in a variety of different ways.

“They like my ability to space the floor and shoot the ball at a high clip,” he said. “And what I liked about the scheme was the ability to get out and play in transition and how much pride the staff takes in defense, which will help me become a better player on both ends.”

Now, Forysthe is happy to have his recruitment behind him and is looking forward to his next stop in Morgantown. He plans to enroll at West Virginia in the summer.

“I’m super relieved knowing that I have a home and that this process is over,” he said. “I’m super excited to get to work.”

West Virginia Mountain Bike Association holds Race to Lil Moe’s in Philippi

PHILIPPI, W.Va (WDTV) – The West Virginia Mountain Bike Association kicked off its cross country series Sunday with the Race to Lil Moe’s in Philippi.

The event had options for all skill levels. Bikers had the choice to race 6 miles, 14 miles, or 19 miles.

Each race had a mix of straight track biking, and twisting and climbing through the woods. Bikers of all ages could participate, and each age group had its own race and results.

“I really do think that trails build community, and if you can get outdoor activity where people can come out and hike and bike,” said George Finly, a mountain biker and trail volunteer. “This is as much as a hiking trail as it is a biking trail. It’s right along the river, which is beautiful. Eagles were flying back and forth yesterday, and today is great because we’ve got a lot of kids out here.”

The next WVMBA cross country mountain bike race will be April 19 in Buckhannon.
