Oklahoma State is likely one of the higher defensive groups that KU has confronted to date this season, so the Jayhawks should do higher from deep than they did final day out towards Harvard. Plus, preserving Moussa Cisse off the glass will probably be a problem for KU, however as a result of OSU turns it over loads, the tide might simply flip in KU’s favor. It’s by no means simple within the Huge XII the place the grind is actual, however I can see Kansas working away with it to finish 2022.

The Jayhawks welcome their first Huge 12 opponent of the season inside Allen Fieldhouse and it simply so occurs to be Invoice Self’s alma mater, Oklahoma State. I all the time really feel like Self takes this one private for that very purpose so I anticipate the hawks will probably be able to play. Jalen Wilson has nonetheless been taking part in elite, however the remainder of the group is beginning to elevate their recreation play and it has been extraordinarily spectacular to observe. I’ll proceed to observe the whole group, however I’m particularly going to observe KJ Adams. Adams has complemented the scorers exceptionally, and appears to have a reference to Dajuan Harris. I personally really feel Oklahoma State will end center to the underside of the Huge 12 this yr and this recreation ought to be an ideal Huge 12 warmup for the Jayhawks.

I’ve to think about Invoice Self acquired after his guys after their sleepy win over Harvard simply earlier than Christmas. Like Derek stated, this Oklahoma State turns the ball over a ton, and if there’s something I’m assured in it’s KU’s capability to succeed offensively in transition. I feel Oklahoma State might make life difficult for loads of groups within the Huge 12 this yr, however KU received’t be certainly one of them on Saturday.

The gauntlet begins as we speak. The Cowboys are certainly one of 6 Huge 12 groups within the High 30 of Kenpom, with three extra within the High 50. Solely Kansas State is outdoors the High 50, and they’re quantity 52. The Cowboys have a fantastic protection, however they offer up numerous three tips that could their opponents. And whereas the proportion they’ve given up has been nice, they’ve solely performed one group that’s any good from three in UConn.

However whereas Kansas has particular person gamers that CAN hit the three, they do not really take practically as many as you’ll count on, solely launching one out of each three pictures from past the arc. So we’ve a Kansas group that does not shoot threes usually sufficient towards an Oklahoma State group that may’t hit threes. If this was on the highway, I is likely to be a bit anxious. However Allen Fieldhouse ought to give the Jayhawks the sting they should flip the Cowboys over repeatedly and get an enormous win.

Oklahoma State’s Star WR Might be Most Difficult to Replace

Oklahoma State has plenty of talent to replace next season, but no one will be more difficult to replace than its star receiver.

Over the past few years, no one has embodied the OSU program better than Brennan Presley. Since he stepped on the field for the first time in 2020, he has been a symbol of consistency for the Pokes.

Although he has played significant roles on a couple of OSU teams that made the Big 12 Championship, he had no issues staying focused throughout the three-win campaign in 2024. In a season where it was easy to find the negatives in just about everything the Cowboys did, Presley remained a bright spot. Entering the season on the Biletnikoff watch list, Presley finished his final collegiate season with 90 catches for 767 yards and seven touchdowns.

The reason Presley will be so difficult to replace is not only because of his impressive numbers each season but also because of how consistent he has been at putting those numbers up.

His consistency led to him breaking the Cowboys’ all-time receptions record in 2024, becoming the first player to cross the 300-catch mark in an OSU uniform by ending his career with 315.

Without Presley out there to be a reliable target next season, there will be some growing pains for whoever suits up under center. Along with always being available for a pass, Presley could be used in a variety of ways.

While it wasn’t his best ability, Presley was also occasionally used as a rusher throughout his career. He ended his OSU tenure with 30 rush attempts for 160 yards and six touchdowns, with most of his carries used as a wrinkle near the goal line.

Of course, the five-year Cowboy was well-known for his ability to return on special teams. His most notable was a kickoff return touchdown in Bedlam in 2021, and 1,667 kick and punt return yards helped him break 5,000 career all-purpose yards.
