He completed with 3,803 whole yards, the second-most behind Joe Burrow’s 2019 Heisman marketing campaign, and now has a full offseason to construct chemistry with the receivers.

What makes the scenario intriguing is how redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier performed the ultimate two video games. Or would he determine to switch earlier than his third season?

Can the offense take one other step?

LSU’s offense struggled to search out its footing the primary half of the season with so many new items making an attempt to mesh. Daniels and the receivers wanted to construct belief. The offensive line needed to get settled. The scheme had faults. As soon as all the things got here collectively, LSU turned a nook in consecutive wins over Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama.

There are causes to imagine LSU can construct on the positives inside that three-game stretch, when it averaged 40.6 factors per recreation. As of now, it returns each main contributor besides broad receivers Jaray Jenkins and Kayshon Boutte. The beginning offensive line comes again. Each operating again might return. The broad receiver room is loaded once more. The tight finish room has potential for progress. And Daniels has extra time to develop chemistry along with his teammates than he did final yr.

Will a cornerback overhaul work once more?

As soon as once more, LSU may have new beginning cornerbacks after patching collectively the place with skilled transfers in 2022. The Tigers solely introduced again former Ohio State switch Sevyn Banks and freshman Laterrance Welch after dropping each different scholarship nook.

LSU received youthful on the place whereas signing choices. It doesn’t need to face this case each season, so it pulled former Texas A&M five-star recruit Denver Harris and Southeastern star Zy Alexander from the switch portal. LSU may even add three incoming freshmen, together with high 100 prospect Javien Toviano.

Tolan had an actual probability to begin subsequent season, and his departure made the linebacker equation much less clear. Penn returns after having began all season, however the spot subsequent to him is open.

Whereas Perkins might transfer inside due to his versatility, defensive coordinator Matt Home stated earlier than Tolan entered the switch portal that LSU wished to place Perkins “in conditions sort of like we have now this yr, the place he’ll be in a possibility to play in area and intensify his abilities” at outdoors linebacker.

Michigan lands commitment from Louisiana transfer portal CB Caleb Anderson

Sherrone Moore and Michigan have added another player to the 2025 roster in the form of sixth-year cornerback Caleb Anderson from Louisiana, according to Sam Webb of 247Sports. Anderson represents Michigan’s second addition from the transfer portal on Sunday, as Michigan picked up wide receiver Anthony Simpson from UMass earlier in the day.

Anderson represents a badly-needed addition to Michigan’s secondary, as Aamir Hall exhausted his eligibility while Will Johnson is headed to the NFL. The cupboard certainly isn’t bare for Michigan, as Jyaire Hill and Zeke Berry should both be back for the 2025 campaign, but both players were a bit inconsistent and there isn’t much experience behind them on the depth chart.

Experience is something Anderson certainly has. He’s been a contributor for Louisiana since the 2022 season, but has been playing college football since 2020. Furthermore, he’s got some familiarity with Michigan defensive backs coach Lamar Morgan, who was with the Ragin’ Cajuns for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, as well as Anderson’s freshman year in 2020.

Anderson also brings plenty of size to the position, as he’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds.

To date, the 2023 season was Anderson’s most productive for Louisiana. During that season, he appeared in 10 games and made eight starts. He registered 23 tackles and had one interception, while also breaking up 10 passes. The production took a bit of a step back in 2024, as he made only 19 tackles and wasn’t credited with any pass breakups or interceptions in an injury-plagued season.

Regardless, Anderson is a welcome addition to the Michigan secondary and will push Hill and Berry for snaps, while also helping to bring along younger players like Jo’Ziah Edmond and Shamari Earls.
