You want drama? Well Euro 2024 is serving it in fierce and feisty fashion. Even the relentless tedium of England matches has launched one of Europe’s great footballing nation into its own waking psychodrama, one where they dream of being as fun as Germany. 

The hosts are one of two teams locked into the last 16 along with Spain; England and Switzerland exceedingly likely to join them from a group stage that eliminates just eight of its 24 teams. Could big names such as Croatia and Belgium be in that small group? The coming days will prove decisive in determining just that. All that can be confidently predicted is that there will be plenty more of the last gasp drama that has come to define this competition in its early games.

Matthew and Kelly Stafford got married in 2015, but just like every relationship, it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows.

The two met while attending the University of Georgia, and things got off to a rocky start.

“It wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first,” Kelly said on the “Off the Vine” podcast. “I hated him, I loved him.”

But Kelly came up with a master plan to eventually wind up with her future husband.

“I dated the backup to p— him off, which worked – he was the bad boy too,” Kelly revealed. “Matthew’s so sweet and a Southern gentleman and all that stuff. And the backup was the complete opposite, and it upset him.”

Not only were they both quarterbacks, but they were also roommates, according to Kelly.

“They lived in the same dorm room because athletes lived in the same dorm room. He would see my car there. At one point he waited and followed me into the car. I was like, ‘This is amazing, it’s working.’ I was like, ‘Get out of my car.’ He was like, ‘He’s not right for you.’ I was like, ‘What? You can’t tell me that,’” she said.

It’s unknown who Kelly was referring to, but during Stafford’s time at Georgia (2006 to 2008), he played in front of Joe Tereshinski, Joe Cox, A.J. Bryant and Mohamed Massaquoi – out of those four, Cox is the only one to be at Georgia in all three of Stafford’s seasons.

It seems like Kelly made the right choice – Stafford was the No. 1 pick in 2009 and was always one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the league – playing for, at the time, the lowly Detroit Lions, didn’t help his case. 

He finally got the recognition he deserved after winning Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams.

The couple has four daughters from ages 3 to 7, with their two oldest being twins.

WARM SPRINGS, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The mayor of a city in Georgia fired its police chief and suspended the entire police force following a lengthy investigation.

In a social media post, the city of Warm Springs announced that Mayor Robyn Pynenburg fired Police Chief Emilio Quintana and suspended the remaining 13 police officers.

“The decision to terminate Chief [Emilio] Quintana and suspend the police force was made after careful consideration of recent events and emerging concerns regarding the conduct and operations within the department,” city officials said in a social media post Wednesday.

The Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training Council confirmed it’s investigating the former police chief for “unauthorized use of city vehicles and representation as an officer in an unauthorized duty of office.”

In the meantime, the city with a population of roughly 500 people, appointed Aisha Al-Khalifa as interim chief.

As of now, Al-Khalifa is the only person active on the police force.

WANF reached out to Warm Springs Mayor Robyn Pynenburg on Thursday.

Pynenburg declined to answer any questions and said in a text message that she was out of town.

“We’ve been without a police chief before, and we’ve been short-staffed before,” said Gerrie Thompson, an innkeeper in Warm Springs.

Thompson said she formerly served on city council and trusts the mayor had a legitimate reason to fire the police chief.

“It’s not something that’s just a spur-of-the-moment thing. I’m not potentially worried about anything. And I’m sure whatever is going on, they will have it taken care of,” Thompson said.
