Augusta’s planning and development director resigns
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Richmond County’s planning and development director has announced her resignation, we learned on Wednesday.
Carla Delaney says her last day will be May 30.
“Augusta has been home to me for many years, from my time as a middle and high school student to earning my graduate degree. It has truly been a privilege to work here and contribute to the community’s growth, sustainability, and development,” Delaney said it her letter of resignation.
Delaney also writes that she will be pursuing another opportunity and that the decision was not made lightly.
“During my tenure, I’ve had the honor of working alongside an exceptionally talented and dedicated team. I believe they are one of the greatest assets to our community. I have no doubt that they will continue to drive Augusta toward a prosperous future, and I encourage the continued support and care of these remarkable professionals,” Delaney wrote.
Delayne will end her tenure having worked for the city for a decade.
“Reflecting on my ten years with the city, I take pride in our shared successes, from the development of Beacon Station to the creation of the Comprehensive Plan, and all the projects in between. It has been a deeply rewarding experience to contribute to the growth of this great city,” she said.
This will be yet another director position that Augusta commissioners will have to work to fill.
Augusta’s Housing and Community Development Director Hawthorne Welcher is currently suspended, so that position’s future is also unclear.
There’s also the matter of a full-time EMA director, which commissioners have sought to fill since the new year.
