Accident shuts down eastbound lanes on Wrightsboro Road
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -Richmond County deputies were at the scene of a car accident just after 10 p.m. near Roger Bagby Auto Services Sunday night.
News 12 crews on scene said the eastbound lanes of Wrightsboro Road is block off and it is unclear when the road will reopen.
Due to visibility issues, News 12 crews could not confirm how many vehicles were involved.
The westbound lanes are still open and you should use caution in the area.

Georgia shooting leaves 1 dead at Army base in 'isolated' incident: officials
An active shooter situation at Army base Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia, on Saturday led to the killing of one person, officials said.
The base went into lockdown shortly before 9 a.m. local time Saturday, making the announcement via social media to the over 110,000 people living on base.
“IF YOU ARE IN DANGER TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION!” the message read on Facebook.
In a statement, the Army base said that the victim was shot in on-post housing and later died.

The base, formerly known as Fort Gordon, said that information about the person who was shot would be released following next-of-kin notification.

“Our focus at this time is providing support to the victim’s family and assistance to anyone impacted by this tragedy,” the base said following the lockdown notification. “The safety and well-being of our residents – our Soldiers and Families – remains a top priority.”

The suspect was placed in custody and local and state law enforcement are investigating the incident.

1 Killed In Shooting At US Army Base In Georgia: Officials
AUGUSTA, GA — One person was fatally shot at a U.S. Army base in Georgia on Saturday.
The shooting took place at housing at Fort Eisenhower, which is just outside Augusta.
The Army base went into lockdown Saturday morning when an active shooter was reported just before 9 a.m., officials wrote in a Facebook post. The base was closed for about two hours.

The suspect is in custody and there’s no threat to the community, officials said. The shooting was an “isolated” incident.
The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, which is leading the investigation, won’t release information about the victim until their family has been notified.

The department is working with state and federal partners during the investigation.
“Fort Eisenhower is actively supporting the victim’s family and assistance will be available to anyone impacted by this tragedy. The safety of our residents and personnel remains our primary concern,” according to officials at the base
