Texas third-year starting quarterback Quinn Ewers came through in the end for the Longhorns in a 20-10 win at Arkansas on Saturday, but Ewers should’ve come through before that. If Ewers doesn’t elevate his play from here on out, Texas won’t reach its season goals.
Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats already have what’s a virtual lock to be a top-10 recruiting class for 2025, and there’s potential for it to finish in the top three.
That is, if Kentucky is able to land a pledge from 5-star forward Caleb Wilson, ranked as high as fifth overall by Rivals.
Now, Kentucky has received two Rivals FutureCast predictions to land Wilson. The biggest news is that one of them came from Arkansas insider Jackson Collier. It’s no secret that the Hogs have been pushing hard for Wilson, but it appears they’re out of the mix now that Wilson canceled his visit to Arkansas for the second time.
Since October, Wilson has visited North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State, but Kentucky clearly has the momentum. The Wildcats hosted him for what was called the “perfect visit” in September and have built on it in the weeks since. Wilson was even in attendance for Kentucky’s win over Duke in Atlanta.

Wilson is expected to release a final list soon, with a decision coming by mid-January. If he does commit to Kentucky, he would give Mark Pope his first top-10 commitment.
The Texas Longhorns headed in halftime of Saturday’s matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville with a 10-0 lead after fighting off a sluggish start offensively thanks to some continued strong play by the defense.
Jahdae Barron’s four interception of the year in the first quarter set Texas up for a 20-yard touchdown grab from receiver Matthew Golden before Bert Auburn added a 39-yard field goal two drives later.. Aside from the turnover, the Longhorns forced five punts on the rest of Arkansas’ drives. Barron finished the first half with the four total tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss and the interception.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers faced heavy pressure often in the pocket and was sacked twice. He missed a few routine throws and nearly had his first pass intercepted, but the ball tipped into the hands of Isaiah Bond for a 17-yard gain.
Despite an up-and-down start, Ewers finished the first half 15 of 23 passing for 100 yards, one touchdown and no picks. His score to Golden came as a result of a bust in the Arkansas’ secondary. The Houston transfer has now caught seven touchdowns this season. However, it was Silas Bolden that led the Longhorns in receiving at halftime with three catches for 33 yards and one punt return for 12 yards.

The Razorbacks got nothing going on offense, as Texas got one sack each from Trey Moore, Colin Simmons, Barron and Alfred Collins.
Looking to get back into scoring position ahead of the two-minute timeout, back-to-back catches for loss by Wisner and Blue set Texas way out Auburn’s range. The Longhorns forced a quick three-and-out but Ewers was sacked on third down once again.
Arkansas will receive the second half kickoff.

Two people were killed in as many crashes on Arkansas roads Wednesday and Thursday, according to preliminary reports from law enforcement.
Eugene Dozier, 50, of Bella Vista was killed around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday after the 2012 Mack dump truck he was driving east on Arkansas 102 near Centerton collided with a westbound 2018 Chevrolet 1500 in a sideswipe, a report from the Benton County sheriff’s office states.
The Chevrolet only lost its side mirror in the scrape, but the truck Dozier was driving veered off the road and traveled nearly 400 feet in the ditch before rolling over and landing about 100 feet further on, crushing Dozier in the truck’s cab, the report states.
Beverly Cokley, 77, of Dermott was killed around 9:02 a.m. Thursday when a Union Pacific train hit the 2022 Ford Escape she was driving west on Ashley County Road 53 over a railroad crossing, a report from Arkansas State Police states.
