With light winds in place and high levels of humidity near the ground, this has resulted in the development of patchy fog.

High temperatures and rain chances today in Western Pennsylvania

The fog is generally thickest near and northwest of the Pittsburgh metro and will be in place through the next few hours. Some scattered showers are ongoing across Ohio and will move from west to east through sunrise and into the mid-morning hours. As low-level heating commences, this will allow instability to build up, resulting in a transition from showers to scattered and even numerous thunderstorms developing by 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and lasting through the evening hours.
Similar to yesterday, wind shear values aren’t too high, but just enough to allow for pulse storms that could produce localized microbursts of wind up to 60mph, very heavy rain, and at most quarter-sized hail.

Severe weather threats on Friday afternoon into the evening
KDKA Weather Center
The bulk of the storm activity will shift south toward I-70 and I-68 during the late evening and overnight hours of Saturday. After a few morning showers, most of Saturday into Saturday night is trending drier as we will be in between systems with high pressure to the north.
On Sunday, moisture will return north ahead of another disturbance. It is likely that showers and numerous thunderstorms will move in during the midday to afternoon hours with this system. An isolated severe storm cannot be ruled out, especially south of Pittsburgh toward the I-70 and I-68 corridors.
Following Sunday’s system, a more potent upper-level storm system will move in on Monday into Monday evening. This system will have much stronger winds aloft and be accompanied by sufficient moisture and some instability, so we will need to keep an eye on a potentially higher severe weather threat with this system.

Lingering showers and storms will continue on Tuesday, before a cold front moves in, resulting in drier conditions by the following Wednesday through the end of next week.

A humane officer is asking the public for help after eight rabbits were dumped and left to a “very long, slow death” in Armstrong County.
Armstrong County humane officer Chris Jirak O’Donnell is trying to find whoever is responsible for abandoning eight Angora rabbits on a gas well road at Keystone Lake in Rural Valley.
The bunnies were found by a family who had gone fishing. They called 911 and O’Donnell was called in to investigate.

“This was an incredibly cruel act. These animals had no chance of survival. And, the rabbits’ conditions would likely have made it a very long, slow death,” O’Donnell said in a new release.
The rabbits were taken to BunRabit’s Rescue in Greensburg. There, manager Nichole Gunderson spent hours shaving and treating the rabbits. Under their matted fur, O’Donnell said Gunderson found bite wounds, thin bodies and a broken toe. Veterinary treatment for the bunnies is being arranged.
Abandoning the rabbits without food or vet care could result in misdemeanor charges. Depending on the veterinary exam results, those responsible could even face felonies.
Anyone with information is asked to contact humane officer O’Donnell at humaneofficerac@gmail.com or by calling 724-954-9515.

PITTSBURGH — Former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Bud Dupree is headed back to Los Angeles, signing a deal with the Chargers, the team announced. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s a one-year deal worth $6 million.
Dupree, 32, was the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent six years with the Steelers, starting 66 of 81 games and recording 231 tackles, 54 tackles for loss, 39.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception and three defensive touchdowns.
Dupree left Pittsburgh in free agency before the 2021 season, signing a deal with the Tennessee Titans. Initially, a five-year deal worth $82.5 million, Dupree spent just two seasons with the Titans before being released. When signing, Dupree was recovering from a torn ACL he suffered during his final season with the Steelers. He played in just 22 games with the Titans, recording seven sacks.
Dupree then joined the Atlanta Falcons for a season before signing a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. Last season, he recorded 28 tackles, six sacks, six tackles for loss and an interception. He’ll now re-join an edge rusher group that lost Nick Bosa this offseason.
