Florida baseball will look to keep its 2024 season alive when it faces Nebraska on Sunday afternoon in a Stillwater Regional elimination game at O’Brate Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.

The Florida Gators (29-28) will look to regroup following a 7-1 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday night. Nebraska (40-21) advanced to Sunday with a 7-5 win over Niagara.

Florida opened 2024 NCAA Tournament play with a 5-2 win over Nebraska on Friday. But after pounding out 14 hits against the Cornhuskers, UF’s bats were silenced on Saturday night, as the Gators were held to just a run on two hits against OSU starter Brian Holliday.

If Florida beats Nebraska, it will set up a rematch with Oklahoma State in the regional finals (7 p.m., Sunday). But Florida will need to beat the Cowboys twice to advance to the Super Regionals.

“We were in this position last year, I think,” Florida baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan said. “We have enough pitching to get through tomorrow’s game and then hopefully we’re fortunate enough to move on and have another chance to play Oklahoma State.”

Niagara did not pitch their top starter or the best bullpen arm in the 19-7 loss to the top seeded Cowboys. Nebraska is down their ace and hottest bullpen arm of the past two weeks, needing a more lively arm than the normal softer tossing lefties that make up the next tier of their pen.

Niagara likes to change pitchers more than Creighton. Expect to see at least 7. Their goal is to get their closer in the game somewhere in the mid to late innings with a close game. Then he can go 3-4 innings.

This is the first time Nebraska and Niagara have ever met on the diamond.
