‘I could not believe my eyes’: Man finds razor inside his burrito at restaurant

MILWAUKEE (WISN) – A Qdoba restaurant in Wisconsin temporarily shut its doors after a man said he found a razor in a burrito he ordered there.

Scott Siewert reported finding the razor in his food in 2023.

However, when the location’s licensing was up for renewal this month, the Milwaukee Common Council voted for the store’s closure.

Siewert said he ordered two pork burritos at the Qdoba on Brady Street in Milwaukee on Halloween this past year.

“You hear stories of Halloween with apples that have razors in them,” he said. “I never dreamed I’d have a burrito with a razor in it.”

He said the first burrito was “delicious” but the second one had an extra unexpected ingredient.

“I reached in my mouth and pulled out this razor blade,” he said. “And I could not believe my eyes.”

Siewert then called the Milwaukee Health Department, which said it took the razor Siewert found back to Qdoba and compared it to a bag cutting tool used at the restaurant.

The department said it was a match.

Siewert said he also emailed Qdoba’s corporate offices, getting a response days later which said, in part, it would offer him “2 free meals.”

Siewert said he expected a better response to his complaint.

“You know, as an owner, I would have personally called whoever and talked with them and explained how sorry I was. And find some way of making it up,” he said.

When the Qdoba location’s licensing renewal came up, the Milwaukee Common Council decided to close its doors for 10 days.

“Employees mess up sometimes. OK. That’s the world we live in. It happened to me. And I’ll never be able to eat at another Qdoba again,” Siewert said.

He said he’s blessed he didn’t swallow the razor.

At the council meeting this past Tuesday, the Qdoba restaurant’s owner said the razor incident was serious. The store now uses scissors to open food bags.

The location is set to reopen on June 21.

See Snoop Dogg Throw First Pitch, Give Play-by-Play at Brewers Game

Rapper made a surprise stop at the Brewers’ game against the Reds before his concert on Saturday

Snoop Dogg calls it like he’s sees it. On Saturday, his candor provided extra entertainment during his surprise appearance at American Family Field during the Milwaukee Brewers’ game against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, which the Brewers won, 3-1.

The rapper treated fans to the first pitch of the game. He warmed up on the mound with his moves from the music video for “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” and Brewers first base coach Quintin Berry joined him. The rapper then threw a strike to Berry.

While that earned a standing ovation, Snoop struck pure gold when he headed to the booth for the Bally Sports Wisconsin broadcast with Brian Anderson and Bill Schroeder, where he commented on plays live at the game. “I came in where the players come in at,” he told them. “’Cause I’m a player.” He then joined them in detailing play-by-plays: “Get up in there!,” he exclaimed.

“Oh Lord, he’s got a rocket in his pocket,” he said as Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz threw out Brewers second baseman Brice Turang at first base. He also gave props to Brewers’ Christian Yelich. “Deuce-deuce, it’s deuce-deuce revolver was my problem solver, let’s go,” he rapped during one of Yelich’s at-bats.

His narration went beyond calling the game to admiration for players’ styles. At one point, he paid a compliment to Reds’ Jonathan India. “Who is that? I like his hair… Look at his hair, his hair bounce like mine… He’s got his hair game together.”

Snoop Dogg’s appearance at the game preceded his show on Saturday night at Milwaukee’s Potawatomi Casino Hotel.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers – June 15, 2024 – Redleg Nation

After a nail-biting ninth inning on Friday night that saw the Cincinnati Reds (34-35) hang on to victory, they will attempt to get back to a .500 record this afternoon against the Milwaukee Brewers (40-29). Andrew Abbott gets the start for Cincinnati, while the Brewers counter with left-handed opener Jared Koenig followed by right-handed starter/long reliever Bryse Wilson.

First pitch from American Family Field will be at 4:10 PM EDT.

Starting Pitchers

Andrew Abbott

Coming off another great start last Saturday when he pitched five innings of one-run baseball against the Cubs, left-hander Andrew Abbott looks to continue his solid 2024 season against another NL Central rival. Abbott just needs to get past the first inning, where most of the damage has been done against him. In 13.0 innings, he’s allowed 10 earned runs on 11 hits, including three home runs. After the first inning, he settles down, with an ERA under 3.00 from the second to the sixth inning.

The Reds have started to watch his innings a little closer earlier this season after fatigue hit him in September last season. Abbott pitched 109.1 innings in 2023, the second most of his professional career, and is at 74.0 innings thus far in 2024. They gave him an extra day of rest between starts at the end of May. With two days off this week, he’s had a full week between his last start and today.

Jared Koenig / Bryse Wilson

Left-hander Jared Koenig will get the start for the Brewers as the opener. Koenig has opened for Wilson before, with the most recent coming against the Tigers last Sunday. He pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball with two strikeouts. Koenig throws mainly three pitches: a sinker, cutter, and curveball. His curveball is his best pitch, with a 45% whiff rate.

Right-hander Bryse Wilson is the Brewers’ version of Nick Martinez. He’s started eight of 16 games he’s appeared in this season and has also pitched multiple innings in relief. Left-handed hitters are batting over .300 with a .997 OPS against him. This is the reason the Brewers will start the left-hander Koenig, as David Bell has stacked his lineup with lefties to face Wilson. However, the Reds haven’t hit Wilson all that well, with a .656 team OPS against him in 12 games. He pitched four innings against Cincinnati in April, allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
