It doesn’t get any larger and higher than Penn State and Iowa. The twin is again in State School for the primary time since 2018 the place Penn State received 28-13. Issues get began Friday at 8:30 PM Jap on the Huge Ten Community. When you’re searching for a enjoyable and informal second-screen viewing expertise give the watch social gathering a attempt!

2023 NCAA Watch Occasion: Iowa vs Penn State & Ohio State vs Michigan

Whereas Penn State is ranked #1 and a heavy favourite to win the NCAA championship, duals oftentimes result in a better variance in outcomes. Actually in 2011 and 2013, whereas Penn State received NCAAs, Iowa received the twin.

125: #1 Spencer Lee, Iowa vs Gary Steen, Penn State

There’s been plenty of speak this week about Spencer Lee transferring as much as wrestle Roman Bravo-Younger. I hate to burst everybody’s bubble, however there’s 0% probability of that taking place. There’s, nevertheless, a darn close to 100% probability he’ll wrestle 125 and beat Gary Steen by bonus factors. No disrespect to Steen, however Spencer has been on a heater recently. He’s presently on a six match pin streak, the most important of his profession. It seems as if nobody will be capable to escape his rath this season.

Prediction: Lee by fall

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 6, Penn State 0

133: #12 Brody Teske, Iowa vs #1 Roman Bravo-Younger, Penn State

There’s some familiarity right here as Brody Teske spent the primary two years of his school profession at Penn State. These two have been teammates, coaching companions, and buddies.

They nonetheless get collectively and prepare within the offseason.

With that being stated, Roman Bravo-Younger remains to be a heavy favourite. Previous to his 4-2 match with Dylan Ragusin final Friday, RBY had a 100% bonus price on the season. Nonetheless, he rebounded by pinning #17 Rayvon Foley on Sunday.

Whereas the 2’s historical past might preserve this one shut, I nonetheless see RBY profitable handily.

Prediction: Bravo-Younger by determination

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 6, Penn State 3

141: #2 Actual Woods, Iowa vs #3 Beau Bartlett, Penn State

Our first toss-up twin of the match. That is the place we discover out precisely the place Beau Bartlett is on the 141 pecking order. Presently 14-0, Bartlett has obtained his #3 rating this 12 months by not shedding. Nonetheless, he has but to get a signature win this season. Actual Woods cemented himself as a title contender this 12 months at 141 lbs together with his win over Brock Hardy final week.

Bartlett has been placing up extra factors on the board this season down at 141, nevertheless, Woods will be very laborious to takedown. If there’s any differentiating issue between these two, it’s Woods’s high recreation. He’s been utilizing it successfully as ever to date in his 9 matches this season, and for that motive I’m going with Woods for my prediction.

Prediction: Woods by determination

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 9, Penn State 3

149: #10 Max Murin, Iowa vs #12 Shayne Van Ness, Penn State

That is probably essentially the most intriguing and hard-to-predict match of your complete twin. Just like 141, we’re going to seek out out the place Shayne Van Ness is on the 149 ladder. To this point Van Ness is undefeated in opposition to everybody besides Austin Gomez and Paniro Johnson. He won’t but be able to take out the highest canine, however #10?

This match going goes to be a dogfight. Most likely not plenty of takedowns, however for certain plenty of laborious hand-fighting. I like the variety of assaults from Van Ness, however I additionally just like the tenacity and expertise of Murin.

Prediction: Murin by determination

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 12, Penn State 3

157: #14 Cobe Siebrecht, Iowa vs #12 Levi Haines / Terrell Barraclough, Penn State

Levi Haines has competed at 5 occasions to date this season. As a real freshman, that signifies that the following time he competes connected, he can not redshirt. I like what I’ve seen from the Pennsylvania native to date this season. After struggling an time beyond regulation loss to Northern Colorado’s Vinny Zerban in his first match of the season, he’s rattled off 10 straight wins with the newest being over All-American Will Lewan.

I’ve no inside information, however I feel PSU goes with the recent hand in Haines. If Haines goes, he’s the favourite. If Barraclough goes, Siebrecht turns into the favourite. Siebrecht does have the massive transfer X issue, however I don’t see it being efficient in opposition to somebody nearly as good as Haines.

Prediction: Haines by determination

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 12, Penn State 6

165: #11 Patrick Kennedy, Iowa vs #5 Alex Facundo, Penn State

That is going to be one other shut match. Each of them redshirt freshmen, Patrick Kennedy is 12-2 on the 12 months and Facundo is 14-1. They each share a loss to David Carr and Dean Hamiti handed Kenendy his second lack of the season final week. As you possibly can see, they’ve very related resumes. The similarities go all the way in which again to highschool the place the 2 wrestled in Who’s Quantity One 2019. Kennedy received that match 5-2.

Kennedy is extra identified for his ahead stress and tempo whereas Facundo has top-of-the-line duck unders in D1 wrestling and nice match ways. If Facundo can keep away from getting scored on from entrance headlock, I feel he wins.

Prediction: Facundo by determination

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 12, Penn State 9

174: #17 Nelson Manufacturers, Iowa vs #1 Carter Starocci, Penn State

Nelson Manufacturers is as powerful as they arrive, however Carter Starocci is nearly as good as they arrive. A 2X NCAA champion and undefeated in his final 38 matches, Starocci is likely one of the nation’s finest pound-for-pound wrestlers. Whereas he’s 9 for 10 this 12 months choosing up bonus factors, Manufacturers has solely been majored, teched, or pinned as soon as in his profession. Starocci wins simply, however not by sufficient to get the main.

Prediction: Starocci by determination

Crew rating prediction: Iowa 12, Penn State 12

184: #10 Abe Assad, Iowa vs #1 Aaron Brooks, Penn State

A really related match-up to 174. 2X NCAA champion vs an All-American contender. I simply don’t see a path to victory for the underdog on this match. Final season it was an 8-3 victory for Brooks. In 2020 it was 7-3. I feel Brooks has widened the hole much more. We noticed him utterly dismantle Parker Keckeisen on the NWCA All-Star Basic earlier this season.

Prediction: Brooks by main determination

Crew rating prediction: Penn State 16, Iowa 12

197: #10 Jacob Warner, Iowa vs #2 Max Dean, Penn State

A rematch of the 2022 NCAA finals! Max Dean watch that match by a slim 3-2 rating. Nonetheless, with a rating of 8-3 in favor of Dean, the twin wasn’t as shut final 12 months. I can’t fairly put my finger on it, however Jacob Warner hasn’t appeared fairly proper this season. At the very least, not fairly as tight because the 2022 NCAAs Warner. Struggling two losses on the 12 months, Dean hasn’t been invincible, however Warner’s losses and shut matches within the second half of the season to date have me extra anxious.

Prediction: Dean by determination

Crew rating prediction: Penn State 19, Iowa 12

Watch Dean and Warner’s 2022 NCAA remaining highlights beneath.

285: #3 Anthony Cassioppi, Iowa vs #2 Greg Kerkvliet, Penn State

My predictions don’t have this twin coming all the way down to heavyweight, however my goodness it certain can be thrilling if it did. Particularly contemplating I’m not assured in my decide. Cassioppi dominated this rivalry with a 3-0 file within the first couple years of their school careers. Nonetheless, Kerkvliet has been a special cat this 12 months and at last beat Cassioppi on the NWCA All-Star Basic. Whereas Kerkvliet dominated the primary 6 minutes of the match, Cassioppi’s fuel tank in addition to a reversal and escapes saved him within the match. The ultimate rating was 8-5 with a driving time level for Kerkvliet. If Cassioppi can get away from Kerkvliet rapidly, this match might be very fascinating.

Prediction: Kerkvliet by determination

Crew rating prediction: Penn State 22, Iowa 12

Iowa Legend Caitlin Clark’s Teammate Opens Up About Her

Iowa Hawkeyes legend Caitlin Clark has made a great transition from college basketball to the WNBA. She smashed through many WNBA records and also ended up winning the Rookie of the Year Award and was named the All-WNBA First Team.

Despite all of the outside pressure that she has faced, Clark has maintained her maturity and risen above all of the negative noise. She has simply focused on playing basketball and being a good teammate, which is something that Iowa fans know well.

Speaking of her teammates, one of them has spoken out with a very high opinion of Clark.

Lexie Hull recently appeared on the “She’s4Sports” podcast. In that interview, she dropped a quote full of praise for Clark and the way she has handled herself.

“It’s really awesome to get to know her as well, because, you know, she’s a great person, but you all have these expectations put on her and our team has put on her and fans have put on her. So to see her kind of be so mature in that transition, it’s been really awesome.”

As can be seen all over Clark’s social media feeds, her and Hull have become very good friends. The two are constantly around each other, even in the offseason.

All Hawkeyes fans could not be more excited about Clark and proud of her for the way she has made the jump to the WNBA.

During her rookie season, Clark ended up playing in 40 games, averaging 19.2 points per game to go along with 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals. She shot 41.7 percent from the floor and knocked down 34.4 percent of her three-point attempts.

Clark is just 22 years old and has a very long future ahead of her in the WNBA. If her rookie season tells us anything, she could go down as one of the best WNBA players of all-time.

That would not surprise any Iowa fan, but there were many who thought Clark would be a bust.

Expect to see Clark come out even stronger in her second WNBA season. She wants to the best and her work ethic shows it. While she will continue dominating on the court, she will also continue being the amazing person off the court that she was with the Hawkeyes.

It’s good to see that all of the pressure and hype has not changed who Clark is away from the game.

Iowa man decorates neighbors’ homes to celebrate wife’s love of Christmas

Indianola, Iowa — Santa Claus isn’t driving a sleigh this year in Indianola, Iowa — and instead of presents, he’s bringing joy and light, decorating every house on his block for the upcoming holiday season.

John Reichart, 74, loves Christmas but there’s something else he loves more: His wife of 53 years, Joan. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s four years ago, and since then, the Marine veteran has made it his mission to keep making her memories.

“If it wasn’t for my wife, I don’t know if I would’ve done it,” Reichart said. “But she wanted Christmas, so I’d give it to her. I’d do anything to make her happy.”

Now there are tons of extra hands on his project, helping set up lights, decorations and more. A steady stream of admirers are also coming to check out the holiday cheer.

“It’s moving,” added one spectator. “That’s what Christmas is all about.”

Reichart said he can’t see himself stopping the tradition now.

“As long as she’s OK,” he said. “And even if she would pass, I’m gonna do it in her memory as long as I can do it.”

Joan said that she’s loved the holiday spirit her husband has brought to the neighborhood.

“I didn’t know what to think,” Joan said. “But I’m glad he did it. I love him.”

To thank Reichart and celebrate Joan, his neighbors have set up a P.O. box to receive Christmas cards. They’ll give the cards to Reichart to read them to his wife.

CBS News is inviting viewers to send cards. To mail a card to the Reicharts, address it to this P.O. box:
