People took a lot of interest in a tweet the Indiana Fever sent Sunday afternoon.

The Fever shocked fans after announcing Sunday morning that Christie Sides had been fired and was no longer the team’s head coach.

Sides is gone after just one season with WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark. The decision sent shockwaves through the WNBA world.

Why was Sides fired after the team showed incredible improvement with Clark and made the postseason for the first time in years? We don’t have an answer, but the team went viral hours later with a tweet featuring the team’s star player and former teammate Kate Martin getting some rings from Iowa.

While the tweet is very vanilla, and most people probably don’t think twice about it, some seemed to hint there were hidden motives.

I think people might be reading into this just a little too much. People seem to think it’s a sign Clark’s former coach Lisa Bluder will be hired or that the team is trading for Kate Martin.

Is the speculation justified? I wouldn’t say it is based off a tweet. It’s simply a tweet hyping up the face of the franchise getting some rings from her final year at Iowa.

Nothing more. Nothing less. There’s no reason to look into it past that, in my very humble opinion. Yet, people are running wild with it after Christie Sides lost her job.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Magic are back home on Monday night, playing host to the visiting Indiana Pacers on Monday night inside the Kia Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Orlando had Sunday off after it split a back-to-back with a 15-point win over Brooklyn and a 13-point loss at Memphis. Monday’s one-off home game tees up a five-game road trip set to follow.

Indiana will be on the second leg of a home-away back-to-back, losing in overtime to the Philadelphia 76ers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indy. Tyrese Maxey had 45 points on the afternoon as the Sixers powered past the Pacers despite the absence of Joel Embiid and Paul George.

He’s 105-144 in the regular season all-time, and 3-4 in the playoffs. Before Mosley was named the head coach of the Magic, he was an assistant with Dallas, Cleveland, and Denver. He’s a Colorado alum, and played four years of professional basketball in Mexico, Australia, Finland and South Korea.

Rick Carlisle, Indiana Pacers: Carlisle is in his 23rd season manning NBA sidelines as a head coach and his eighth with the Indiana Pacers – the fourth of this second stint. Prior to being the man in charge in Indianapolis, Carlisle spent 13 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, including the 2010-11 title year. Before Dallas, he spent four more seasons with the Pacers and two with the Detroit Pistons. Before being a head coach, he was an assistant with the Pacers, Portland Trailblazers and New Jersey Nets. Carlisle enters Monday’s matchup tied for 11th all-time in total wins for a head coach with 944.

Tennessee basketball has one final game before the regular season begins.

The No. 12 Vols face Indiana on Sunday (3 p.m. ET, SEC Network+) in a charity exhibition. All proceeds of the game will benefit the John McLendon Foundation, which works to empower and develop minorities desiring to be leaders in athletics administration.

Vols coach Rick Barnes is entering his 10th season. Tennessee reached the Elite Eight in 2024 for the second time in program history. It also won the SEC regular-season title for the second time in Barnes’ tenure.
