Seattle Seahawks add Tremayne Anchrum to O-line in free agency

The Seattle Seahawks have made another addition to their offensive line in free agency, announcing the signing of guard Tremayne Anchrum Jr. in free agency on Monday afternoon.

Huard: What Seahawks’ new LBs do better than Wagner, Brooks

Anchrum is making the move to the Seahawks from a rival in the NFC West division, the Los Angeles Rams.

The 25-year-old Anchrum has appeared in games for the Rams in three of the last four seasons after joining the team as a seventh-round NFL Draft pick out of Clemson in 2020. The Georgia native played all 17 games for Los Angeles in 2023, and he made one start during the 2022 campaign.

“I wanted to come somewhere where there was opportunity,” Anchrum said after signing with Seattle, according to a post on the Seahawks’ official website. “There’s a lot of admiration for this organization, how they play ball. Coming from the Rams side, I’ve always watched them week in and week out because we play similar opponents and everything like that, and when I saw who they hired as a head coach (Mike Macdonald), I was like, OK, they’re retooling for a really good year and to be a really good franchise going forward. I want to be a part of something special.”

The 6-foot-2, 314-pound Anchrum is the third signing Seattle has made in free agency on the offensive line, joining center Nick Harris and tackle George Fant. Harris played in college for the UW Huskies, while Fant is returning to the franchise after four years with the New York Jets and Houston Texans.

Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners Odds

The Seattle Mariners are -138 favorites, while the Arizona Diamondbacks are underdogs with a +118 ML price. The over / under is set at 7 runs. The underdog has won 5 of the last 7 games between the Mariners and Diamondbacks. However, it’s the Mariners who have won 7 of the last 10 games against the Diamondbacks.

Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners Recap

The Arizona Diamondbacks are riding a 3-game losing streak and hope to avoid the sweep before taking on the Dodgers after this. The Seattle Mariners have won 9 of their last 11 games and will begin a series with the Braves on Monday. The Mariners’ offense has mowed down the Diamondbacks in this series, and they’ve allowed a combined 5 runs in their last 3 games. The Diamondbacks have scored 3 or fewer runs in 7 of their last 10 games. Not an ideal spot for the Diamondbacks with the way they’re swinging the bats.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Seattle Mariners Pitching Matchup

Brandon Pfaadt gets the ball for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and he is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. Pfaadt has allowed 23 hits and 15 earned runs in his last 24 innings, and the Diamondbacks have lost his last 4 starts.

Pfaadt has a 5.73 ERA in 11 innings on the road this season. This will be Pfaadt’s second career game against the Seattle Mariners. Logan Gilbert gets the ball for the Seattle Mariners, and he is 2-0 with a 1.87 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. Gilbert has allowed 19 hits and 7 runs through 33.2 innings, making him a top-20 pitcher in baseball at the moment. In his fourth season at 26 years old, Gilbert is starting to come into his own and showing why he was such a highly rated prospect. This will be Gilbert’s second career game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Seattle Mariners prediction

The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to go through a slump, and they’re not a team I’m excited to back on the road. Brandon Pfaadt has also been shaky at best, and he’s been even worse on the road. The Seattle Mariners have shown flashes of getting their act together, and Logan Gilbert has been ridiculous through 33.2 innings. Gilbert was up there with Julio Rodriguez in prospect rankings, and he’s starting to come into his own. The price is more than reasonable. Give me the Mariners.

Benteke, DC United beats short-handed Seattle Sounders 2-1

WASHINGTON (AP) — Christian Benteke scored two goals, Alex Bono had four saves and D.C. United rallied from an early deficit to beat the short-handed Seattle Sounders 2-1 Saturday night.

DC United 2, Seattle Sounders 1: Match detail

The 33-year-old Benteke has scored eight goals this season, tied with Real Salt Lake’s Cristian Arango for second in MLS, behind only Lionel Messi (nine) of Inter Miami.

Aaron Herrera chipped an arcing cross from the right goal line to the back post and Benteke outjumped Cristian Roldan at the corner of the 6-yard box and ripped a header that powered through the fingertips of goalkeeper Andrew Thomas to give D.C. United a 2-1 lead in the 45th minute.

Seattle (1-5-3) has scored just one goal and is winless in three consecutive games since a 5-0 win over CF Montreal on April 6.

D.C. United (3-3-4), which had lost back-to-back games, snapped a three-game winless streak.

Seattle’s Stefan Frei was shown a red card (denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity) and Benteke converted from the penalty spot in the 32nd for D.C. United to make it 1-1, Andrew Thomas replaced Frei, Léo Chú came off and the Sounders played a man down the rest of the way.

Chú opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Albert Rusnák had a shot from the top of the penalty area blocked, as was the first-touch rebound by Joshua Atencio before Jordan Morris played a line-drive entry to Chú for a header that ricocheted off the post into the net.

Thomas finished with three saves for the Sounders.

Boise State Football: George Holani Signing UDFA Deal With Seattle Seahawks

While no Boise State football players were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, at least one will still get a crack at making an NFL roster as a rookie. Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Holani will join the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent.

Throughout his five seasons with Boise State, Holani had two 1,000-rushing-yard seasons, was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and was on the All-Mountain West second team twice. Holani was part of two Mountain West championship teams at Boise State, including 2023’s title run under Spencer Danielson.

REPORT: Miami Dolphins Signing UTEP QB Gavin Hardison As UDFA

Last season, Holani ran for 748 yards and seven touchdowns. He only played in eight games. Holani’s best season came in 2022 where he ran for 1,1157 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Along with being named to six watch lists, Holani also was invited to the NFL Draft combine and participated in the Hula Bowl. Holani’s 5’11,” 210-pound size certainly stands out as he can be a quick, versatile running back at the pro level.

NFL Rookie Minicamps will take place May 3-6 or May 10-13 this spring.
