Report: Seattle Mariners trade for Triple-A 3B with strong numbers

At the same time the American League West-leading Seattle Mariners were rolling to a 6-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night, they apparently were putting the finishing touches on a trade with the Chicago Cubs.

ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan reported late Monday night that the Mariners will trade relief pitcher Tyson Miller to the Cubs, with Triple-A third baseman Jake Slaughter coming to Seattle.

Seattle designated Miller for assignment last week when they reinstated starting pitcher Bryan Woo from the injured list.

The 27-year-old Slaughter has some interesting numbers in the minor leagues. An 18th-round MLB Draft pick by the Cubs in 2018, the LSU product owns a .297/.392/.486 slash line for an .878 OPS with five home runs and six doubles in 32 games with Triple-A Iowa this season. Last year with Iowa, Slaughter hit 22 homers and drove in 77 runs while slashing .243/.340/.482 (.822 OPS) in 104 games.

Miller, 28, made nine appearances this season with the Mariners, running a 3.09 ERA over 11 2/3 innings. Seattle signed Miller to a minor league deal in the offseason and called him up to the majors in April. Prior to joining the M’s, Miller appeared in 16 combined MLB games for the Cubs, Rangers, Brewers, Dodgers and Mets. He returns to his original franchise, having been drafted by the Cubs in the fourth round in 2016 and making his major league debut with Chicago in 2020.

Seattle weather: Drier and cooler stretch ahead

FOX 13 Seattle Meteorologist Ilona McCauley has your latest western Washington weather forecast!

A soggy start to our Friday morning where many locations picked up measurable rainfall. Amounts ranged from around .10″ to just under 1″ closer to the coast. While the lowlands saw widespread rain, our mountain passes got several inches of snow with more on the way overnight.

A wet start to the day on Friday where many spots picked up .25″ to .80″ of rain.

A mainly dry night around western Washington tonight except for a convergence zone which will set up in Snohomish County. Light rain will continue to fall along the line with more snow, especially through Stevens Pass.

Mainly dry Friday night with a few showers north.

A convergence zone sets up in the north sound with a chance for light rain overnight.

Many of our mountain ski slopes picked up around 6″ of snow earlier today with more falling tonight. A Winter Weather Advisory was issued till 6 a.m. for the Central Cascades, including Stevens and Snoqualmie Pass.

After the rain wraps up tonight, our weekend and the extended period looks fairly dry. Afternoon temperatures will be cooler, only in the low to mid 40s with overnight lows dropping to near freezing.

Manhunt underway for Mason County shooting suspect

Manuhunt underway for Mason County assault suspect

Mason County deputies are looking for a man wanted in a shooting in Belfair on Monday.

MASON COUNTY, Wash. – The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a convicted felon wanted in a recent shooting.

The sheriff’s office says Michael Allen Beyer is wanted for first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Deputies believe Beyer was involved in a shooting that happened in Belfair on January 6.

Beyer is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him and call 911 immediately.
