Early Thursday morning crash near Winnemucca kills 1

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (KOLO) – An early Thursday morning crash north of Winnemucca killed one person.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says that around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, they responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 95 about five miles north of downtown Winnemucca.

An initial investigation found that a red 2000 Ford F-350 was driving south when the driver lost control in the winter conditions, causing it to travel across the northbound travel lane and onto the northbound shoulder.

The driver, 56-year-old William Winters of Winnemucca, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the car.
